The BASAFF Presents Children & Youth Film Festival is a unique event that brings together filmmakers, audiences, and industry professionals to celebrate films that resonate with children and young audiences. The festival features a diverse selection of films, including feature-length narratives, documentaries, short films, and animated works that reflect the experiences and imaginations of young people globally.

As a participant, you will have the opportunity to make your work widely available to the jury and the audience, and to interact with filmmakers, producers and viewers from around the world. Whether you are a director, a writer, a producer, or any of the other characters involved in film production, you are welcome to participate.

1. Date and Location
The final deadline is as specified on FilmFreeway. Category winners will be announced after the festival concludes. The festival location will be announced as the event date approaches.

2. Competition
The festival reserves the right to reassign entries to different categories if it is deemed beneficial for the entry.
Each entry must be submitted individually.
Entries will be evaluated, and successful submissions will be scheduled for screening and competition. Failure to submit a screening copy at least four weeks before the festival will result in disqualification from awards.
If your film is selected, we reserve the right to screen it at a date and time of our choosing.

3. Format
Accepted formats include: Blu-ray, .Mov, Mp4.
You can upload your film to cloud drives such as iCloud, Drop Box, etc. If using Google Photos or Google Drive, do not simply copy the file URL, as this keeps the file private. Use the share icon and click "Get Link" or "Get Shareable Link" to ensure the judges can view your film.
All films must have English subtitles.

4. Selection
The festival director reserves the right to invite films for competition and programming. The screening schedule will be announced after the final submission deadline.
Final award winners will be chosen by the festival jury and audience votes. Winners will be notified within 14 days after the festival screening.

5. Submission Return
We do not return submitted works.

6. Screening
Participants are responsible for ensuring their screening copy is delivered to the festival organizers at least 21 days before the scheduled screening time.

7. Promotion
We reserve the right to use excerpts from submitted works for festival promotion and marketing purposes.
Press kits are not required but are helpful. Feel free to send them along with your submission.
By submitting your film, you agree to the following BASAFF terms and conditions and acknowledge that you have read and understood the BASAFF submission guidelines.

If my film/video is selected, the following terms apply:
1.My film/video will be screened during the Bay Area South Asian Children and Youth Film Festival and will be eligible for awards.
2.My film/video will be sent in one of the exhibition formats specified by BASAFF.
3.My film/video may be used for festival promotional purposes, limited to private screenings and previews for the media and supporters, unless otherwise arranged with BASAFF.
4.I will allow BASAFF to use my name and film/video stills (at least one print-quality version to be provided upon request) for promotional purposes.

The following applies to all film/video submissions:
1.BASAFF reserves the right to archive a screening copy of my submitted film/video (excluding 16mm prints) in physical and/or digital format for historical and research purposes, and it will not be publicly screened without my permission.
2.BASAFF will hold private screenings to review submissions, which may include my film/video.
3.BASAFF does not refund submission fees.
4.Films should not be publicly available on any digital platform.
Please ensure all submitted works adhere to the above regulations and requirements to ensure your film has the opportunity to be screened and awarded at the festival.
