CEBU INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (CEBU.IFF) aims to gather filmmakers from all over the globe to celebrate the art and craft of filmmaking, promoting valuable cross-cultural partnerships, and sharing inspirational stories across the globe.

CEBU.IFF shall serve as a springboard for local film makers to feature their stories through the art of film making. It also aims to revive the Visayan film industry and further support the development of Philippine produced films that have a global reach through training and workshops by noted shakers in the industry, both local and global. General Information
CEBU INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (CEBU.IFF) aims to gather global filmmakers to celebrate the art and craft of filmmaking, promoting valuable cross-cultural partnerships, and sharing inspirational stories across the globe.

CEBU.IFF also aims to revive the Visayan film industry and further support the development of Philippine produced films that have a global reach. CEBU.IFF will serve as the leading International Platform to showcase world-class films while also promoting Philippine produced narrative and animated films to the rest of the world.

Subject Matter
CEBU.IFF welcomes narrative, documentary, and animated films that cover a broad scope of genre.

Eligibility
CEBU.IFF is open to professional, debut, and student filmmakers of all ages and nationalities. Films must follow the time requirements for each category and MUST HAVE RATING OF GENERAL PATRONAGE (GP) TO BE SCREENED TO THE PUBLIC (e.g. ENTRIES MUST HAVE NO SEX, NUDITY, VIOLENCE OR DRUGS) IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE SCREENED in venues. Films that are not GP can still join the festival in competition but will not be screened.

Films that have already been submitted and are considered as a finalist may still be edited for screening purposes. Coordinate with the Festival Director.

Permissions & Authorizations

By submitting a film to CEBU.IFF, the filmmaker or authorized representative confirms that he or she has authorization from each person appearing in the film or otherwise has the right to film them; all content is his or her own work, and the filmmaker or authorized representative has the right to use all content. The filmmaker or authorized representative guarantee that he or she have obtained all the necessary permissions, licenses and clearances and that the film and the screening of the film, does not infringe the moral and ethical rights including copyright of any third party.

The filmmaker or authorized representative hereby warrants that he or she is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and agrees to these requirements and regulations. The filmmaker or authorized representative shall indemnify and hold harmless the Cebu International Film Festival and its Organizers from any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and costs of court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim including copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening of the submitted film for official selection.

👉👉👉NOTICE THIS: Once your film has been selected, the filmmaker or the representative, shall hereby allow the festival PERMISSION TO SCREEN your film at any platform (virtual or otherwise), event or venue, from here on, free of charge. The sole purpose is for showcasing films and to give it the exposure it deserves, and not for financial gain or commercial purposes.Updates on all CEBUIFF events shall be posted on the festival’s social media platforms.

Language
The official language of the CEBU.IFF is English. Foreign language films must have English subtitles or captions. Transcripts will not be accepted.

Subtitles
All Entries must contain English subtitles. Entries submitted without subtitles, or with supplementary printed translations/transcripts, can continue in the festival but cannot be judged or screened.

CEBU.IFF or "The Festival" is composed of the following categories such as:

c) Best Short Narrative (International and Philippine Focus)
d) Best Short Documentary (International and Philippine Focus)
e) Best Animation (International or Philippine Focus)

Film Categories
CEBU.IFF accepts films under the categories as stated above. Films may not be submitted into more than one category.

NOTICE THIS: All films must be within 5 years of age. 👈👈👈

INTERNATIONAL CATEGORY (subject to change without notice)
A. Best Long Narrative (International and Philippine Focus): Any films from thirty to ninety (from 30-90min) minutes in duration. Open to professional and amateur filmmakers.
B. Best Long Documentary (International and Philippine Focus): Any films from thirty to ninety (from 30-90min) minutes in duration. Open to professional and amateur filmmakers.

C. Best Short Narrative (International and Philippine Focus): Any film under thirty (30) minutes to 10 minutes in duration to the that includes obb and cbb. Open to professional and amateur filmmakers.

D. Best Short Documentary (International and Philippine Focus): Any films under thirty (30) minutes to 10 minutes in duration to the that includes obb and cbb. Open to professional and amateur filmmakers.

E.Best Animation (International or Philippine Focus): Animated films of any length and genre. Open to professional and amateur filmmakers.

F. Best Student Short: Any filipino student, or person with filipino descent may join.

G. Best Cinematography: Any film which represents the art of motion-picture photography and filming, manifesting technique and skill above and beyond videography.

H. Bernie Lumapas Humanity Award / Service Award: Any film which captures the genuine
life and struggles of people and the rising above their condition. It also includes any film which manifests the deep compassionate, sympathetic, or generous behavior or disposition of man in his particular environment.

[IMPORTANT]: Once selected, the film cannot be withdrawn during the event. Selection gives give permission for the Cebu International Film Festival (CEBU.IFF) and its organizers to screen selected films during the festival and any other CEBU.IFF presentations, programs, and/or events. Coordinate with the Festival Director.

Films previously screened and/or awarded elsewhere may be submitted. The selection of films for the Competition Section will be made by a committee whose decision will be final.

Deadlines and Fees
CEBU.IFF is managed and operated by Cebu International Documentary Film Festival (CIDFF), a non-profit organization that is dependent on public and private funding.
Donations have no bearing upon competition results.

Registration Fee is $55 or PhP3,025 per film. Early Bird Fee is US$35 or PhP1,925 each. Deadline: End of August.

Student Category Fee is US$7 or 350 Php. Early Bird Fee US$6 OR 300 Php.
Deadline: End of August.

CALL FOR FILM SUBMISSIONS
The submission of entries starts after the Awards Ceremony of the previous year, at 10:00 AM Philippine Standard Time (GMT +8).

The deadline for submissions is every August 31 of every year, at 11:59 PM Philippine Standard Time (GMT +8).

How to Enter
To submit a film to CEBU.IFF, filmmakers must register or have an account on FilmFreeway website and fill out the application form and pay the deposit fee.

2 We will send you the Bank Details where you can deposit your registration fee
3 Send us back your deposit slip
4 Then we will send you the code and procedure to register at FilmFreeway
*Open to all Undergrad/Graduates Filipino Students from the Philippines.
*Students with Filipino ancestry residing in other countries are eligible.

All entries must have (even if they haven’t been chosen yet):
-a download link available for the committee to view (HD version 720p or 1080p; or as requested)
-All films must have English subtitles
-Must have updated posters
-Logline of Film
-Synopsis
-Updated picture and short bio of filmmaker/s

● Once the submissions are over, a pre-selection committee comes in to choose the finalists per category.

Pre-selected Filmmakers will be contacted via email and will be asked to send the following:
- Printed out Film Submission form as requested on cebuiff.ph@gmail.com
- Two (2) USB copy- High Definition File (16:9 Aspect Ratio) – with English subtitles even if the spoken language is in English
- Digital Cinema Package (Preferred when selected for face to face screening. No need from the student category)
- Download-enabled Trailer/Teaser sent thru email
- Film poster art- sent thru email
- Logline and Synopsis of the film, along with cast & crew details- sent thru email
- Short CV of the Director
- Permit to Screen/Screening Confirmation Form
