Prepare to face your deepest cinematic fears this November 2026, as the Buried Alive Film Fest returns to Atlanta, Georgia, for its 19th year. This festival has become a key event, a staple for independent genre films including; Horror Sci-fi, and Thrillers from around the world. Each year, we bring you films that explore the bizarre and bloodcurdling, with selections that leave you wanting more. Our staff and team are dedicated to unearthing the films that deserve to be brought into the spotlight, continuing BAFF’s legacy of celebrating underground, and innovative storytelling.

It’s important to continue to honor the core mission of BAFF as it was originally conceived years ago. The Buried Alive Film Festival was born from a group of passionate horror buffs and twisted creative minds who founded Gorehound Productions and the Atlanta Horrorfest Blake Myers and Luke Godfrey. Their mission was to champion true underground filmmaking in the Southeast and beyond, while bringing the best in independent horror to the Atlanta area. This vision, as articulated by the founders for years, and remains the foundation of BAFF, and one that we fully intend to uphold.

As we look ahead to the 2026 edition of the Buried Alive Film Festival, we are focused on upholding the festival’s roots while adding a new promise to build upon this foundation by supporting emerging voices, particularly from marginalized communities, and provide a platform for indie filmmakers to be seen and heard. After a successful 2025, with nearly 800 people attending, we are excited for what 2026 will bring and look forward to furthering BAFF’s growth toward its 20th anniversary.

If you think your film has what it takes to be a part of the BAFF alumni then you need to submit! So, summon your courage and unleash your cinematic horrors upon the world!

As always we thank you for sharing your art with us.

Prepare for the horror event of the century as we bestow awards upon the bravest souls who dare to venture into the darkest corners of "Sinema".

  • BAFF 2025 was honestly one my favorite experiences as a filmmaker. This has to be the friendliest festivals I've ever attended, and the passion of the team was palpable! The Plaza Theatre is a national treasure: hip, well run, with vibes to spare. The programming was excellent, particularly for the short film blocks (which is not something I thought I would ever write: short film blocks tend to be long, grueling hit-and-miss experiences, but these were beautifully thought out!). This is an obvious labor of love for everyone involved, and I am so grateful for the passion of this team!

Screening our short Knifeman there was an absolute delight, and we were truly honored to be a small part of a one a kind Atlanta event! Everyone we met was so incredibly nice, and the film selection was truly top notch!

Buried Alive Film Fest in ATL is hands-down one of my favorite festivals I've ever attended. The programming, the atmosphere, and especially the audience made the experience unforgettable. I loved getting to interact with viewers after the screening. Everyone was engaged, warm, and genuinely passionate about horror. I can’t wait for the chance to come back!
