Prepare to face your deepest cinematic fears this November 2025, as the Buried Alive Film Fest returns to Atlanta, Georgia, for its 18th year. This festival has become a key event, a staple for independent genre films including; Horror Scifi, and Thrillers from around the world. Each year, we bring you films that explore the bizarre and bloodcurdling, with selections that leave you wanting more. Our staff and team are dedicated to unearthing the films that deserve to be brought into the spotlight, continuing BAFF’s legacy of celebrating bold and innovative storytelling.

It’s important to continue to honor the core mission of BAFF as it was originally conceived years ago. The Buried Alive Film Festival was born from a group of passionate horror buffs and twisted creative minds who founded Gorehound Productions and the Atlanta Horrorfest Blake Myers and Luke Godfrey. Their mission was to champion true underground filmmaking in the Southeast and beyond, while bringing the best in independent horror to the Atlanta area. This vision, as articulated by the founders for years, and remains the foundation of BAFF—and one that we fully intend to uphold.

As we look ahead to the 2025 edition of the Buried Alive Film Festival, we are focused on upholding the festival’s roots while adding a new promise to build upon this foundation by supporting emerging voices, particularly from marginalized communities, and provide a platform for bold filmmakers. After a successful 2024, with nearly 800 people attending, we are excited for what 2025 will bring and look forward to furthering BAFF’s growth toward its 20th anniversary.

If you think your film has what it takes to be a part of the BAFF alumni then you need to submit! So, summon your courage and unleash your cinematic horrors upon the world!

As always we thank you for sharing your art with us.

Prepare for the horror event of the century as we bestow awards upon the bravest souls who dare to venture into the darkest corners of "Sinema".

BAFF was such a blast. There so many talented filmmakers grinding through the Sinema Challenge, which I got to be a part of. I was impressed by everyone's ability to adapt to the time, budget, and content restraints and make quality short films. The main festival had a ton of great selections and I was honored to have my films play alongside them. The crowd was very engaged and everyone seemed to enjoy the experience quite a bit. Definitely recommend this top notch festival.

  • My team and I were THRILLED to be included in this year's lineup of films. We had an incredible time every single day, and were honored to be named "Audience Choice" "Best Local Short" and winner of "The Risk Taker" award for our film THE HUNTED.
Shannon and the entire team of staff and volunteers were exceptional, and the Plaza Theatre is, as always, full of magic.
We can't wait to come back!
