Come out and see some of the best independent films in the world! This November the Buried Alive Film Fest will expose the citizens of Atlanta, Georgia to some of the most disturbing, visually appealing, and scary independent horror films in the world. We receive submissions from everywhere. We will narrow it down to the finest selection of horror gems.

The modern age of digital film-making has flooded the market with tons of films, one seemingly indistinguishable from the next. The depth and breadth of horror fandom, combined with the rapid growth of independent film-making, have led to an explosion in indie films dealing with the terrifying, macabre, gory, and bizarre.

The Buried Alive Film Fest of Atlanta is your chance to prove your film’s worth. No matter if it’s feature-length or short-form, a slasher or a ghost story, a zombie flick or a horror comedy, a suspenseful thriller or a horror documentary, all films in this exciting and growing genre are welcome. Our staff and judges come from across the local horror community, and with their discerning eyes can truly decide what should remain buried and what should be unearthed.

At Buried Alive we give away the Splitzies to the Best Feature, Best Short, Best Animation, and The WTF award. The best local award will receive the coveted, "Golden Shovel" and the runner up will be given the, "The Silver Spade".

Note following the guidelines, rules, and regulations of our competition and/or not meeting eligibility requirements may be cause for disqualification. Please read carefully.

This is a great festival! I love going as both a filmmaker and a fan. The hosts really love the genre and go out of their way to curate and find a unique selection of films. The venue is in a great location and they work hard to create opportunities for filmmakers to connect. Highly recommend!

  • I think this is a nicely run fest. I felt welcomed immediately and I think the fest director really made an effort to engage with attendees. Their communication was great and immediate. I think the films were a lot of fun, this is a great fest for horror fans. The location really lends itself to socializing, I might suggest an organized meet & greet at one of the neighboring bars/restaurants to really encourage the networking outside of the limited time between films. Perhaps an after party gathering after the final screenings. Good people, definitely recommend this fest.
