If you see yourself in this description, we would be delighted to welcome you to the Budapest International Screenplay Festival! Be a part of Hungary's new screenwriting competition, which leaves the online space and creates an opportunity to build professional relationships in person.

The festival aims to discover, present, and support national and international creators who want to use their talent in cinematography.

Everyone knows how difficult it is to get started and establish yourself in this profession, which is why we help promising screenwriters and ambitious producers find each other.
In addition to national and Central European applicants, we welcome anyone from anywhere in the world, thus enriching and improving the possibilities that lie in storytelling. We believe that racial and cultural variety is essential to scripts and learning about new perspectives.

The winners of the three main categories each receive 270 Euros, a certificate, a personalized, engraved glass trophy, and the opportunity to be introduced at the closing event!
The winners will be announced at the closing event, where the finalists can present their writings in front of prominent producers of the national film industry.

  • This is a festival that delivers!! -it is well worth your submission! This is an update from a previous review. Sent by mail from Hungary was the promised trophy along with a very embellished award certificate. Really great. You know most of the festivals make all these encouraging statements but it is an exception to find one that actually goes out of their way to promote and encourage the film maker, which is so needed in this competitive world. Bravissssimo to director Richard Sasvari!!

Just a great film festival and worth every penny! We are grateful to Budapest Screenplay for choosing our WWII script HEIMRICH FARM for Best Screenplay award!! Thank you very much. And Richard Sasvari has been in touch and promises to mail us the trophy which is exceptional. Wonderful!! Once again, much appreciated.

  • It was my grateful pleasure to have an opportunity to enter my script Sacajawea, The Windcatcher into the Budapest International Screenplay Festival. My contact Richárd Sasvári was a wonderfully caring person who was extremely informative and helpful. I was humbled that my script was chosen as an Official Selection, and I was asked to provide a video for the festival. My only wish would have been to be there myself. With the purpose of sending Sacajawea's story around the world, having the attention of Budapest was magnificent. Thank you, so much.
