Charlie was raised in Queens and was often taken to see stage theatre. In high school he would cut out of class with a friend, going downtown to see shows on and off-Broadway. While attending college in England, he found theatres in towns and villages to experience their productions. In his mid-fifties, Charlie sold his plumbing business, sold his house, gave his dog to close friends and entered into the Peace Corps, where he spent 2 ½ years in the primitive mud town of Niono, Mali, W. Africa, near Timbuktu and the Sahara. He came back in 2006 determined to write plays. He was drawn to fresh, compelling and engaging stories. Charlie was thrilled to return to Manhattan four times for his own off-Broadway productions. Several other plays have been performed in and around Columbia, SC, where he lives, and Mississippi. Constantly finding refreshing ideas for a script, he is a dedicated and passionate playwright.
