Puppet Festival Mississauga is a puppetry festival taking place in Mississauga, March 7th -16th 2025. It is filled with exciting shows, engaging workshops and panels, that explore the art of puppetry from its origin to its advancement. The Festival aims to connect professional puppeteers from around the world and bridge cultures through one of the oldest and most common art forms.

Puppet Festival Mississauga engages in the conversation about art and society by introducing, examining and celebrating various forms of animating objects. It is our mission to ignite a reflection of the world in our audiences by connecting the past and the future. We celebrate traditional forms of puppetry and the skills of the puppet designers and performers, while expanding the conversation of what is puppetry and animation and how it touches the contemporary world.
The festival takes place in various locations all over Mississauga, with a variety of shows and performances available for all ages and families to enjoy!

Awards & Prizes

The selected films of the 5th annual Puppet Festival Mississauga Festival will be screened on March 12 to 14, 2025 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

• Best Animated Short Film - $500

The winner and runner-ups will also receive:

• Official Laurel for the winners and finalists
• Digital Certificate for the winners
• Letter of Congratulations for the winners and finalists

Rules & Terms

ANIMATION SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

We are seeking unique and engaging completed works from animators of all kinds to be featured at Puppet Festival Mississauga, in March 2025! This festival aims to engage in the conversation about art and society by introducing, examining, and celebrating various forms of animation and puppetry. Our goal is to celebrate and explore the ways puppetry and animation have evolved and found itself in the contemporary world.

Your video submission can be in the form of automation, stop-motion animation, digital animation, robotics, or anything else you've created in the same realm.
Submissions must have been made by you or by a team you took part in.
Your video must be between 60 seconds and 15 minutes long.
