The Boston International Film Festival was created to celebrate the art of filmmaking and to honor the filmmakers who make it all possible. This is a festival dedicated to rewarding artists for their individual talents and for their creative expression through the medium of film. The festival strives to bring together in Boston local, national and international filmmakers by promoting the world’s most artistic and creative independent and experimental films.

The festival’s goal is to encourage and support the work of worldwide independent filmmakers and to promote their products as an art concept and as a valuable contribution to world understanding. The occasion of a 5 day festival affords a rare opportunity to promote dialogue between filmmakers and the audience in an intimate setting. The Festival Committee also hopes to provide an international cultural platform for screening feature-length, documentary, short and student works as a lasting institution.

This was my first year a the festival and I loved attending the various programs. Opening night was great and I found the people to be open and willing to connect. I attended the Shorts Programs (my film was a short) and truly enjoyed the film choices. Can't wait for next year.

I am thrilled and honored that we got to participate in this fabulous film festival. I thought everyone at the BIFF outdid themselves and went far and beyond to create an extraordinary film festival. It was fun, exciting, stimulating, challenging -- I loved coming to see such powerful selection of films and meeting the filmmakers, the audiences, and the festival team. I was extremely happy with how my screening went, I thought it was a great evening. I could not have asked for anything better. Thank you to BIFF team for everything you’ve done for us filmmakers to make us shine and to give the audience the best possible experience!

It was my very first time at the film festival and we had a lot of fun showing our film and getting together as a team again. The cinema was huge and it was great meeting Patrick Jerome and seeing his film too. The only thing I didn't like was how rude Marie Blaise was to me. Anytime I had to interact with her to get my badge or get my actor's badge, or if I were speaking to someone she needed to speak to, she was just really rude and dismissive to me and on several occasions. It was really confusing and very unpleasant. Will limit my contact with her in the future.

I didn't attend the festival due to schedule conflicts but the submissions team was very communicative and supportive, going so far as to give me an incentive to submit again.
