  • What can I say but Thank You Black LGBT Film Festival! My documentary '24th Michigan Womyn's Music Festival 1999' was selected. Although I could not physically attend, the feedback was good, and I am delighted that the film was well received.

As a Black L in LBGT, I feel that it is affirming to recognize the radical feminists & lesbians who started creating Womyn's safe spaces. I was delighted to share this glimpse of this women's only encampment with the greater LGBT community. It is now part of her story. I expect that women all over will feel empowered by viewing it. Thank you for the opportunity.

Really enjoyed this festival. The organisers were very personable. All the films chosen were great and I liked connecting with the other filmmakers. I hope to attend again next year.

  • I'm so disappointed that I was unable to attend this festival! The team behind it is absolutely amazing. They had wonderful communication and I love that they focus on giving a voice to those of us who sometimes feel like we aren't able to be heard. They are professional and truly care about filmmakers. Words can't describe how incredible it was to have them feature my film. I wish nothing but the best for them in the future and can't wait to see what other African American LGBT filmmakers they feature!

The goal of this festival is what makes it beyond amazing. Being seen for WHO we are rather than WHAT we are is what's most important. Being not only selected for screening, but selected to speak on a panel about the current state of black LGBTQ in cinema was amazing, It was also humbling to win BEST DIRECTOR this year, and I wish this festival much much success in the future.
