ABOUT
Bite Night is a small nonprofit operation run by a queer and diverse group of misfits, weirdos, artists, and creatives. Our mission as a 501c3 organization is to uplift other scruffy minds like ours.

Over the past 5 seasons, we’ve built an online collection of over 350 shorts (and counting)!! We’re looking forward to showcasing another exceptional round of films from the collection this October. We’re also excited to be exploring options for growth, with plans to add more screenings along with networking, community building, and personalization to the online fest! Our small but mighty team is working hard to make sure Bite Night offers filmmakers the same support, exposure, education, and opportunity as the big fests, minus all the paywalls and gate-keepery.
~đź’€stay tuned for the 2026 line-upđź’€~

We’ve had to flip the script a bit to make all the horror happen. Let’s dig in:.

1. WEB FEST: Not every Bite Night Select screens at the live show. All submissions are considered for the online festival and selects are added to Bite Night’s collection of shorts, which comes with a personalized project page on bitenight.net, complete with video boxes—good for full screeners and trailers—as well as photo galleries, links, and more!

2. LIVE FEST: Bite Night judges select the event programming from the online festival one season in advance, awarding a block of exceptionally biteable shorts to screen at the following year’s show. Along with FREE festival tickets for you and your crew, award winners also get:

- Special digital badge on your project page
- “Award Winner” Bite Night laurels
- Dedicated Insta blasts, including our “meet-the-director” vids
- Limited-edition Bite Night swag from stickers to patches to tees and sweatshirts—whatever's hot that season!

We’re looking at ways to add more live-screening opportunities for Bite Night Selects, like monthly pop-ups and film slams, so like the online branch, big things are comin’ down the pike for the live fest too!

PUBLIC RELEASE
A screener of your work is NOT REQUIRED to participate in our festival. To avoid “public release” of films still moving through the circuit, we encourage filmmakers to include a trailer or teaser on their Bite Night project page instead. Unless prompted otherwise, all screeners of selected shorts that are approved for download by the submitter will be added to the film’s Bite Night page. All content on bitenight.net is viewable at no cost to the general public. Please reach out to the Bite Night team with any questions.

SUBMISSION REGULATIONS
Submissions deemed to be outside of or in conflict with any of the following regulations will be subject to disqualification.

- Submissions must be no longer than 10 minutes in runtime, including credits.
- Submissions must fall within the horror genre or some adjacent sect.
- Submissions must be entirely original works, with all media being owned or created by the submitter or their team. The use of AI is discouraged, but not explicitly prohibited at Bite Night and is judged on a case-by-case basis. Any submissions deemed by the CHOMPR team to be relying on an excessive amount of AI is subject to disqualification.
- Films primarily in languages other than English must include English subtitles.
- Submissions must not be pornographic in nature.
- Repeat submissions of the same film will be disqualified from judging.

ONLINE LISTINGS
Unless prompted otherwise by the submitter or filmmaker, all selections will remain in the online collection—publicly accessible, listed on bitenight.net, and eligible for awards and live screenings—beyond the season of their selection. Bite Night Selects are encouraged to participate in and take advantage of the online collection for as long as they would like. Filmmakers are welcome to leave the festival at any time and can contact the team to do so.

BUILD WITH US
Bite Night is a young organization and growing fast. In the following seasons, we hope to grow to put on bigger events and try new things, like competitions and fundraisers. All works submitted to and selected by Bite Night are eligible to be shown at any Bite Night event. All media from selected works—stills and clips—are considered for promotional use in any and all Bite Night materials. That said, no work will ever be used or screened without the explicit consent from the film’s creator. We’ll always talk to you first.

  • We are thrilled and deeply honored that our short film “THE RESILIENCE” has been officially selected for the Bite Night Film Festival.

It is always meaningful to find a home in spaces dedicated to horror and genre cinema—where bold ideas, visceral storytelling, and emotional intensity are celebrated without compromise. This festival continues to champion films that push boundaries and explore the darker, more human corners of cinema.

As director, I, Vadir Sottelo, would like to sincerely thank the Bite Night Film Festival team for including our work in their selection. It is a privilege to share “The Resilience” with an audience that truly understands and embraces independent horror filmmaking.

We are grateful for the opportunity and inspired to keep creating stories that challenge, disturb, and resonate.

Thank you for supporting genre cinema.
