Welcome to BITE NIGHT!!! We are so excited to be diving into our 5th season here at the best party above ground! Check out pics and vids from last year's fest at bitenight.net and stay tuned for the 2025 lineup!

~SAVE THE DATE: October 24th, 2025~

At Bite Night, no one is ever priced out of sharing their art! Our mission is to make the festival circuit financially accessible to everybody, creating a cultivated collection of the world's best horror shorts along the way. With rolling deadlines, fee waivers, and our Movie of the Month system, Bite Night's crackpot team of judges work throughout the year to offer filmmakers all the support, exposure, and opportunity of our big sister festivals without the paywalls. We've had to flip the script a bit to make it all happen, so give the rules and regs a peruse to get into the nitty gritty of how it all works. For those about to drop the filthiest fear fuel in our feeds, we salute you.

To optimize the scope of opportunity for our filmmakers, Bite Night's selection process functions in two parts...

1. WEB FEST: Films selected from FilmFreeway are added to the bitenight.net collection, the online portion of our festival. Each select gets their own page complete with video boxes—good for screeners and trailers—as well as photo galleries, links, and more!

2. LIVE FEST: To determine which films will screen at our live event each October, we use the Movie of the Month Award. Each month, Bite Night's team of judges select one exceptionally "bite-able" short as the Movie of the Month. Along with a screening slot at next year's live event, perks of the MOTM award include:

- A banner at the top of the Bite Night home page, linked to your bitenight.net page

- A dedicated post on the Bite Night instagram: @monstermovieauthority

- Special Movie Of The Month Bite Night laurels

- Limited edition Bite Night swag! From stickers to patches, T's and sweatshirts,
whatever's hot that month!

PUBLIC RELEASE
It is not a requirement to include a full screener to your Bite Night page after selection. To avoid "public release" of films still moving through the circuit, we encourage filmmakers to include a trailer or teaser instead. Unless prompted otherwise, all screeners of selected shorts that are approved for download by the submitter will be added to the film's Bite Night page. All content of bitenight.net is viewable at no cost to the general public. Again, we encourage any filmmaker concerned with a "public release" of their film to reach out to the Bite Night team after selection. An entire screener of your work is NOT REQUIRED to participate in our festival.

REGULATIONS
Submissions deemed to be outside of or in conflict with any of the following regulations will be subject to disqualification by any member of Bite Night's judging team.

- Submissions must fall within the horror genre or some sect of the horror genre.

- Submissions must be entirely original works with all media being owned or created by
the submitter or their team.

- Films primarily in languages other than English, must include English subtitles.

- Submissions must not be pornographic in nature.

- Repeat submissions of the same film will be disqualified from judging.

ONLINE LISTINGS
Unless prompted otherwise by the submitter or filmmaker, all selections will remain in the online collection—publicly accessible, listed on bitenight.net, and eligible for the MOTM award—beyond the season of their selection.

BUILD WITH US
Bite Night is a young organization and growing fast. In the following seasons we hope to grow, to put on bigger events, and try new things—like competitions and fundraisers. All works submitted to and selected by Bite Night are eligible to be shown at any Bite Night venture. All media from selected works—stills and clips—are eligible for promotional use in any and all Bite Night ventures. That said, no work will ever be used or screened at any Bite Night event without the explicit consent from the film's creator. We'll always talk to you first.
