BITE NIGHT PRESENTS is dedicated to showcasing short films that ooze excellence in monster moviedom and stand out in the horror genre. Each season runs year round with no submission deadlines. Selectees are added to the online collection, which comes with a dedicated project page, and each year the Bite Night team selects 12 shorts from the collection to screen at our year-end live event in Portland, ME.

Bite Night Presents is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and our mission is to create a platform for beginner and student filmmakers to share their work and serve as a financially accessible entryway into the film festival circuit, cultivating a curated collection of classic creature creations and scary cinema along the way.

Awards & Prizes

The Bite Night Presents Movie of the Month Award is given to one outstanding short selected from the collection each month. Winning projects, selected by the Bite Night judges, will be screened at the next Bite Night year-end event. Winning projects also receive:

- A banner at the top of the Bite Night home page that links to the film's dedicated
page

- A dedicated post on the Bite Night instagram: @monstermovieauthority

- digital copies of the special Movie Of The Month Bite Night laurels

- limited edition Bite Night swag from stickers to beanie, T's and sweatshirts
depending on what's hot that month!

Rules & Terms

- Submissions must be categorized as Horror or some sect of the horror genre.

- Submissions must be no longer than 10 minutes in runtime.

- Submissions must not be pornographic in nature.

- Submissions must be entirely original works with all media being owned or created by
the submitter or their team.

- Submissions must not be submitted more than once, although submitters are
encouraged to submit multiple projects.

bitenight.net is a free to access website and screeners of selected shorts will be available to the general public for streaming. Some festivals may consider this a "Public Release". Screeners for all selected shorts are automatically added to the projects dedicated page upon selection. Creators are welcome to substitute a full screener on their page with a trailer or other media and need only to inform the Bite Night staff of their desire to do so.

Unless prompted otherwise by the submitter or filmmaker, all selections and their dedicated pages will remain accessible and listed on bitenight.net through the seasons following the year of their submission. All selected shorts from all seasons, unless having been previously awarded, are eligible for the Movie of the Month Award in the following seasons and entitled to all the accompanying benefits and prizes.

All shorts selected to the Bite Night collection are eligible to be shown at such events, but no project will be shown without ample notice and written permission from the creator.
