Bistrita Romania International Film Festival is an independent film festival with LIVE SCREENINGS , providing a stage for artists to present their films.

Our goal is to bring together a diverse and large audience and screen as many films as possible, showcasing to spectators that short films are equally captivating and offer a unique storytelling experience within a brief amount of time.
We do not sell tickets, the entry to the festival and film screenings is free.

Join us on this cinematic journey, where an International Jury of experienced professionals adds prestige to the event.

The first edition in 2023 at Teleki Castle drew a substantial audience in an atmosphere that felt like a film set. People enjoyed watching 32 films from around the world.

This year we're expanding with film nights in Bistrita city to showcase more films and reach a broader audience.

If you're a talented artist, filmmaker, editor, producer, writer, or director, we want you to be part of it! We're on the lookout for artists who are making fresh content in a wide range of movie styles.

All the Winners will receive the Official Laurels and the winning-category achievement certificate after the Live Event.

Rules & Terms


IF YOU SUBMIT YOUR FILM, YOU AGREE WITH THE FOLLOWING RULES:
•FILMS MUST BE FULLY COMPLETED PRIOR TO THE DATE THE PROJECT IS SUBMITTED.
•FILMS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH A PRIVATE LINK (VIMEO, YOUTUBE, FilmFreeway, SELF HOSTED). CURRENTLY, OTHER FORMAT IS NOT ACCEPTED.
•QUALITY STANDARDS MUST BE MET. BELOW 720P RESOLUTION, POOR AUDIO QUALITY, ETC WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.MINIMUM MINUTES 4. MAXIMUM MINUTES 32.
•FILMS CONTAINING ANY OTHER LANGUAGE THAN ENGLISH MUST HAVE ENGLISH SUBTITLES.
•HSF HAS NO PREMIERE STATUS REQUIREMENTS.
•ALL FEES ARE NON TRANSFERABLE AND NON REFUNDABLE.
•HSF MAY USE PORTIONS OF YOUR FILM (INCLUDING TRAILER/TEASER/STILL/POSTER) FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES.
•YOU MUST OWN THE RIGHTS ON YOUR FILM IN ORDER TO SUBMIT IT.
•FESTIVAL EVENT DATES AND TIMES MAY BE DELAYED OR CHANGED.
•A DCP COPY OF YOUR FILM MIGHT BE REQUESTED FOR THE LIVE EVENTS.

We are not liable for any copyright infringements or unauthorized usage and any conflict should be settled by the parties involved thereof.
You are responsible for any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity.
HSF can consider any film to be disqualified if the festival considers the content inappropriate. If you have any questions regarding this decision, feel free to contact us.

All submissions in personal categories required the name of the person and the category. You can easily send us this information in the cover letter at the FilmFreeway website.

Not all the submissions are selected for the official competition. Our Judges are free to make their own choices and no answers nor feedback will be given about not selected films.

    I had the enormous pleasure and honor of having been selected for this wonderful festival along with other great artists with high quality projects.
    My short film "Three Wishes. One Truth" became a finalist and it was a great satisfaction.
    I want to highlight the professionalism and organization of the Festival. Communication has been constant, on time, and super neat. A 100% positive and very warm experience.
    I wish you to continue growing because this festival is the best I have seen.
    I hope to present a new project soon. Festivals like yours generate a lot of motivation.
