[ENGLISH] LEGAL BASIS
Bilbao Surf Film Festival, organized by TAUI MEDIA S.L., aims to promote the cinematographic universe of surfing.
CONDITIONS
Both feature films and short films will be accepted. The maximum duration will be up to 30 minutes for short films and more than 30 minutes for the rest, and it is essential that the subject matter be related to the world of surfing (or action sports in the ACTIONS PORTS category). The works can be of any genre, from fiction to documentary.
There is no limit to the number of works to be presented in this contest for each author.
It is recommended that in the works that include dialogues and are not in Basque or Spanish, subtitles should be provided and that these should be in Basque and Spanish.
All works submitted in previous editions of this festival are excluded and are not eligible to participate.
The proposals must be original, without having been plagiarized or usurped from third parties. In case of suspicion, proof of authorship will be requested.
The author will be the owner and responsible for allthe totalreproduction rights ofthe work and,therefore, exempts the festival organization from any responsibility derived from it.
In the case of the use of music and/or images, it is recommended that they be royalty-free (copyleft or self-created). In case of using copyrighted songs or images, the participant assumes the risk that the platform
to which the video is uploaded or whoever holds the copyright may take action against the video. Likewise, if it is proven that the video is violating in any way the intellectual property regulations, the organization will consider its rejection.
All works submitted must make a non-sexist use of language, attitudes and images, as well as non- homophobic and non-racist attitudes. A non-sexist use will be guaranteed in the totality of the submitted
work, in compliance with Law 4/2005, of February 18, 2005, for the Equality of Women and Men. In accordance with the aforementioned law, in the productions presented, people will not be shown as inferior or superior in human dignity based on their sex, or as mere sexual objects, sexist stereotypes will be avoided and sexual diversification, roles and gender identities will be promoted.

Registration is free of charge.
The deadline for entries is December 15, 2025. Organization reserves the right to extend the deadline due to organization needs or internal decisions.
AWARDS
A professional jury composed of people related to the world of surfing and audiovisuals will select the finalists and the winning films. The jury's decision is final. In addition, the jury reserves the right to declare any of the prizes void.
Votes will be cast according to criteria of technical quality, artistic sensitivity, creativity and narrativesolvency. The jury's decisions, including the final decision, will be taken by simple majority.
The categories will be:
BEST FILM AWARD More tan 30 minutes
BEST SHORT FILM Less tan 30 minutes
BEST LOCALS ONLY: For the best work presented by filmmakers registered in or born in the Basque Country
BEST ACTION SPORTS: For the best work on sports other than surfing (skate, mountain, BMX, trails, nature...)
PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD: For the best film, selected by the public by means of a vote
JURY AWARD: For the best film according to the consensus criteria of the professional jury
Official Selection: Laurel awarded to the short films and documentaries participating in the official selection
* The works submitted may not be awarded in more than two categories at the same time.The winning short films and documentaries will be announced at the closing gala on March 2025. Theywill be published on the website www.bsff.eus
TO BE CONSIDERED
The authors of the short films selected for screening at the festival will have the obligation to send their work to www.bsff.eus in a digital file (via WeTransfer, e-mail or similar, preferably in HD (1280×720) /Full-HD (1920×1080) resolution and mp4 format, with the organization reserving the right to request a change of format in case of technical needs). This fact will be communicated to the corresponding authors well in advance.
