The BEST AUSTRIAN ANIMATION FESTIVAL takes places in VIenna from 27. Nov. - 2. Dec 2023, presenting the 13rh edition of the Best Austrian Animation Competition.

Only films with a percentage of at least 50% animation, and a clear connection to Austria are qualified for selection (authors must be born or films must be produced in Austria.)

Im Rahmen des Best Austrian Animation Festivals von 27. November – 2. Dezember 2023 findet im Wiener Filmcasino zum 13. Mal der Best Austrian Animation Wettbewerb statt.

Zum Wettbewerb sind audio-visuelle Arbeiten zugelassen, die zu einem signifikanten Anteil animationstechnisch entstanden sind, und entweder von Personen mit Geburtsort in Österreich hergestellt oder in Österreich produziert wurden.

1.500.- Euro >>> Preis für die Beste animierte Auftragsarbeit
1.000.- Euro >>> Preis für den Besten studentischen Animationsfilm

KATEGORIEPREISE:
(jeweils: 500.- Euro)
Preis für die beste narrative Arbeit
Preis für die beste experimentelle Arbeit
Preis für die beste analoge und/oder hybride Technik
Preis für die beste digitale Technik
Preis für den besten Ton/Sound/Musik
Preis für das bestes Musikvideo

Zusätzlich werden Publikumspreise ermittelt.

Wir freuen uns sehr, die Erhöhung der Preisgelder auf eine Gesamtsumme von 7.500,– Euro bekanntgeben zu können.
Wir bedanken uns herzlichst bei den Förderstellen:
Die Wirtschaftskammer Wien (WKW-FIMU) und die bundesweite Wirtschaftkammer (WKO-FAMA) ermöglichen die Dotierung des Preises für die Beste animierte Auftragsarbeit (1.500.-) und zwei Kategoriepreise (je 500.-).
Die Universität für angewandte Kunst in Wien hat gemeinsam mit der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien den Preis für die beste studentische Animation ausgestattet. (1.000.-)
VDFS (Verwertungsgesellschaft der Filmschaffenden) und VAM (Verwertungsgesellschaft für audio-visuelle Medien) dotieren vier weitere Kategoriepreise (je 500.-).

FILMS NOT FULFILLING THESE CRITERIA WILL BE REJECTED

Only filmmakers living or born in Austria can participate in the competition.

The definition of the term "animation" is rather strict;
there has to be a production method, which can be named "single-frame-technique" or "computeranimation".
Animated parts have be at least 50% of the film.
