Bergamo Film Meeting offers every year a dense and varied programme that confirms the Festival's incessant research to compare the most innovative trends of contemporary cinema with the styles, genres and authors of the past.
For 9 days, with over 150 films, including shorts and feature films, Bergamo Film Meeting, confirming itself as one of the most prestigious Italian cinema events, becomes the crossroads of international cinema, proposing guests, meetings, special events, exhibitions, workshops, master classes, screenings for schools and numerous initiatives which - thanks to the collaboration of partners and institutions - allow to wander between the infinite contaminations of cinema with art, literature, music and comics.
The program of the Festival proposes: the inauguration, with the live-scoring of a silent film; 2 competitions - the EXHIBITION COMPETITION dedicated to fictional feature films and CLOSE UP dedicated to documentary -; two historical retrospectives dedicated to internationally renowned actors and / or directors; the journey into the new contemporary European cinema EUROPE, NOW !, with the complete solo shows of three directors to discover; animated cinema with the full staff of an internationally renowned animator; previews, classics and special events; the KINO CLUB section aimed at school children of various age groups and the DAILY STRIP, the appointment with five of the best illustrators on the Italian comic scene.

Awards & Prizes

EXHIBITION COMPETITION
As always dedicated to new authors, the international competition premieres feature films, never before screened in Italy, characterized by their stylistic and narrative originality in dealing with contemporary themes. The selected feature films compete for the Bergamo Film Meeting Award, granted to the three best films in the section based on the preferences expressed by the audience. The winner receives an award worth 5,000 euros, set up to support productions that invest in young authors, in independent and quality cinema. In addition to that, an international jury grants 2,000 euros as prize money for the Award for Best Director.

CLOSE UP
Documentary films in which the inquisitive and attentive gaze of the director delves without hesitation into the heart of reality, proving capable of grasping and synthesising the visible and the invisible, narrating a theme, a place, a character in "close-ups", with intensity and participation. Two awards are assigned: worth € 2,000, the Best Documentary CGIL Bergamo - Close Up Section is awarded based on the preferences expressed by the audience, as a recognition to promote independent film productions; the CGIL Jury Prize, worth € 1,000 and reserved for the film that best explores issues related to the world of work, working life and social themes, is awarded by the CGIL Bergamo trade union delegates to the director of the best film in competition.

MOSTRA CONCORSO
Come sempre riservata ai nuovi autori, la competizione internazionale presenterà lungometraggi di fiction, inediti in Italia, caratterizzati dall’originalità linguistica e narrativa con cui affrontano i temi della contemporaneità. I lungometraggi selezionati concorrono al Premio Bergamo Film Meeting, assegnato ai tre migliori film della sezione sulla base delle preferenze espresse dal pubblico. Al film vincitore va un riconoscimento del valore di 5.000 euro, istituito come sostegno rivolto alle produzioni che investono nei giovani autori, nel cinema indipendente e di qualità. Inoltre una giuria internazionale assegna 2.000 euro quale Premio per la migliore regia.

VISTI DA VICINO
Film documentari nei quali lo sguardo curioso e attento del regista si addentra senza remore nel vivo della realtà, dimostrandosi capace di cogliere e sintetizzare il visibile e l’invisibile, di raccontare un tema, un luogo, un personaggio “da vicino”, con intensità e partecipazione. Due i premi che vengono attribuiti: il Premio Miglior Documentario CGIL Bergamo – Sezione Visti da Vicino, del valore di 2.000 euro, assegnato in base alle preferenze espresse dal pubblico, come riconoscimento alle produzioni cinematografiche indipendenti; e il Premio della Giuria CGIL - La Sortie de l'Usine, del valore di 1.000 euro, attribuito dai delegati sindacali di CGIL Bergamo al documentario che meglio affronta i temi legati al mondo del lavoro e del sociale.

RULES AND REGULATION FOR PARTICIPATION
45th EDITION – 6th-14th of March 2027

GENERAL
1.1 Bergamo Film Meeting - International Film Festival is promoted and organized by Bergamo Film Meeting ETS Association, via Borgo S. Caterina, 19 - I-24124 Bergamo, Italy.
1.2 The Association's main purpose is to promote the knowledge and diffusion of films of distinguished artistic and cultural qualities, which ought to have a wider public but have some difficulties in finding distribution in Italy.
1.3 The 45th Bergamo Film Meeting will take place from 6th to 14th of March 2027.
1.4 The Festival will be composed of the following sections:
- Exhibition Competition Section: an international competitive section reserved for fiction feature films (Italian premiere);
- Close Up Section: an international competitive section reserved for creative feature-length documentaries (Italian premiere);
- A Monographic Section, devoted to an emerging author or an emerging cinematography;
- A Retrospective Section;
- Special Programmes and events, tribute sections, previews, and/or other events approved by the Association.

ENTRY CONDITIONS, SELECTION, DEADLINES
The Festival's Programme Committee selects the films for each competition section. The Committee's selection is final and binding.

2.1 EXHIBITION COMPETITION SECTION
a. The Exhibition Competition Section is reserved for fiction feature films (min. 60 minutes) completed after 1st January, 2025. DCP is the format and video system admitted.
b. Films selected must not have been distributed or presented in Italy yet, with exceptions that might be permitted on a case-by-case basis by the Selection Committee. Entering a film for Bergamo Film Meeting implies stating under personal responsibility in which manifestations it has already been presented at.
c. If a film is selected for Bergamo Film Meeting, it cannot in any way or form be presented in Italy prior to its screening at Bergamo Film Meeting (6th - 14th of March 2027).

2.2 CLOSE UP SECTION
a. The Close Up Section is reserved for creative documentary (min. 50 minutes) completed after 1st January, 2025. DCP is the format and video system admitted.
b. Films selected must not have been distributed or presented in Italy yet, with exceptions that might be permitted on a case-by-case basis by the Selection Committee. Entering a film for Bergamo Film Meeting implies stating under personal responsibility which manifestations it has already been presented at.
c. Works of the following character are not eligible for selection in the Close Up Section: tourist promotion, making-of, current affairs report, television news, docu-soaps, video art, music videos, theatre and dance videos.
d. If a film is selected for Bergamo Film Meeting, it cannot in any way or form be presented in Italy prior to its screening at Bergamo Film Meeting (6th - 14th of March 2027).

2.3 SUBMISSION AND DEADLINE
a. An entry fee of 15 Euros is required. To submit a film for selection, a link (preferably Vimeo, protected by password, valid until the end of the Festival and downloadable), accompanied by informative documentation (a synopsis of the film, a bio-filmography of the director, 2 photographs/stills of film scenes, 1 director's photo and the director's note) and by an entry form duly filled in and signed, must be sent no later than 4th December, 2026 via filmfreeway.com/BergamoFilmMeeting.
b. Video Library: through the online entry form it will be possible to authorize the Festival to insert the films submitted in the Video Library. The service - access to which is reserved for accredited professionals only (producers, distributors, other festivals, press) - is for promotional purposes only. The films selected in the two competitive sections will be automatically included in the Video Library, unless otherwise agreed with the rights holders.

2.4 JURIES AND PRIZES
The Festival Audience Jury, composed of spectators, film professionals, critics, journalists and cultural managers, will assign:
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd Bergamo Film Meeting Prize to the best three feature films in the Exhibition Competition section. The production of 1st prize will receive 5.000 Euros (pre-tax);
- Best Documentary Prize to the best movie in the Close Up section. The production of 1st prize will receive 2.000 Euros (pre-tax).

The following prize will also be awarded:
- Exhibition Competition: the 2.000 Euros Best Director Prize is given by an international jury composed of Cinema professionals;
- Close Up: CGIL Jury Prize is reserved to the film which better face social and workplace issues. To the director of the winning movie the 1.000 Euros (pre-tax) Award "La sortie de l'usine".

Other prizes sponsored by public institutions or private funds will follow special regulations approved by the same institutions and/or funds.

The producers and distributors and the buyers and sellers of rights to films awarded prizes undertake to make mention in their publicity and advertising materials (posters, press-kits, trailers, website, etc.) of the winning of a prize at Bergamo Film Meeting. The official logos of the various prizes will be supplied by the Festival. The logo must not under any circumstances be modified or altered without the prior permission of Bergamo Film Meeting.

SCREENINGS
3.1 Screening programmes and screening times are decided by Festival's organizers.
3.2 Foreign films will be screened in the original version with English and Italian subtitles. A print with English subtitles is required for films that are not in English.

MATERIALS
4.1 Copies of the films selected for the two competitions must be received by 21 February 2027 and will be deleted within two weeks of the end of the Festival. Only in exceptional circumstances, and where duly justified, may the deadline for delivery of the film be extended.
4.2 Film copies must be submitted either as a DCP or as a digital file via the platform indicated by the Festival, or in accordance with the delivery instructions provided following the film's selection.
4.3 For the preparation of the Italian subtitles, participants are required to provide an English subtitle file in .srt format with timecodes, together with a low-resolution video file of the final version of the film in its original language, including English subtitles.

PROMOTION
5.1 For the preparation of the Festival catalogue and the Festival's promotional activities, the rights holders of the films selected for the Exhibition Competition and Close Up sections must submit the following materials by 24 January 2027 (unless already provided):
- a selection of different high-resolution stills from the film, for which permission is granted for free publication in the Festival catalogue and for use by the press, as well as on the Festival's website and social media channels;
- links to the film's official website, trailer and social media accounts;
- posters, one-sheets and any other promotional materials, both in digital format and, where possible, in printed format (to be sent to the Festival's operational office; shipping costs shall be borne by the submitter).
5.2 Bergamo Film Meeting reserves the right to distribute trailers (max 5 min.) of the selected films, in relation to promotion of the Festival and at the discretion of the same, on television (including satellite) and online (on the official website of Festival and on sites linked to it, as Vimeo, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram...).
5.3 The film will be available in the Festival's Video Library, during the 9 days of the event, for the exclusive use of press, jury and industry professionals.
5.4 Directors of the Exhibition Competition selection's films will be invited as guests of Bergamo Film Meeting for 4 days (3 nights). Bergamo Film Meeting will cover their travelling expenses within bounds and conditions established by the Festival Organizers.
Directors of the Close Up selection's films will be invited as guests of Bergamo Film Meeting for 3 days (2 nights). Bergamo Film Meeting will cover their travelling expenses within bounds and conditions established by the Festival Organizers.
By subscribing a movie to BFM the director or his/her representative will grant his/her presence to present the movie and participate to the Q&A. The invitation is personal and not transferable.
5.5 Unless otherwise agreed upon, Bergamo Film Meeting office may arrange further presentations of subtitled works in other Italian locations. Such presentations are meant exclusively as a promotional vehicle for the film(s).

NON-SPECIFIED CASES AND CONTROVERSIES
The above regulations are printed in Italian and English. Should any controversy arise, the Italian version will be trusted. Participation to Bergamo Film Meeting entails unconditional acceptance of all articles of the above regulations. Any matter not considered by the above regulations will be dealt with by the Consiglio Direttivo of Bergamo Film Meeting ETS. Any legal dispute will fall within the Jurisdiction of the Court of Bergamo.

NORME GENERALI
1.1 Bergamo Film Meeting - International Film Festival è promosso e organizzato dall'Associazione Bergamo Film Meeting ETS, la cui sede legale è in via Borgo Santa Caterina, 19 – 24124 Bergamo, Italia.
1.2 Fine primario dell'Associazione è quello di favorire la visione e la diffusione di film che, per le loro caratteristiche artistico-culturali, meritano di essere conosciuti dal più ampio pubblico, ma che trovano difficoltà ad avere una distribuzione in Italia.
1.3 La 45ª edizione di Bergamo Film Meeting si tiene a Bergamo dal 6 al 14 marzo 2027.
1.4 Il Festival si articola nelle seguenti sezioni:
- Mostra Concorso (competizione internazionale per lungometraggi di finzione);
- Visti da Vicino (competizione internazionale per lungometraggi documentari);
- Personali dedicate ad autrici/autori o cinematografie emergenti;
- Retrospettiva storica;
- Programmi speciali, eventi, omaggi, anteprime e/o altre iniziative approvate dall'Associazione.

REQUISITI, SELEZIONE E SCADENZE
La selezione per partecipare ai concorsi di Bergamo Film Meeting avviene a cura e giudizio insindacabile dell'Ente organizzatore.

2.1 MOSTRA CONCORSO
a. Alla Mostra Concorso sono ammessi solo lungometraggi di finzione (minimo 60'), terminati dopo il 1° gennaio 2025 e disponibili nel formato DCP.
b. Condizione tassativa per la presentazione alla Mostra Concorso è che il film non sia stato ancora distribuito in Italia e/o proiettato in altre manifestazioni italiane, salvo eccezioni che vengono valutate dalla commissione competente. Chi iscrive un film a Bergamo Film Meeting dichiara sotto la propria responsabilità in quali altre manifestazioni il film è già stato presentato.
c. Qualora venga selezionato, il film non può essere presentato in alcun modo in Italia prima della proiezione a Bergamo Film Meeting (06 – 14 marzo 2027).

2.2 VISTI DA VICINO
a. Alla sezione Visti da Vicino sono ammessi documentari di creazione terminati dopo il 1° gennaio 2025 della durata minima di 50', in DCP.
b. Sono esclusi dalla selezione i documentari di promozione turistica, i making of, i reportage di attualità, i telegiornali, i docusoap, le opere di videoarte, i videoclip musicali, i video di danza o di teatro.
c. Condizione tassativa per la presentazione alla sezione Visti da Vicino è che il film non sia stato ancora distribuito in Italia e/o proiettato in altre manifestazioni italiane, salvo eccezioni che vengono valutate dalla commissione competente. Chi iscrive un film a Bergamo Film Meeting dichiara sotto la propria responsabilità in quali altre manifestazioni il film è già stato presentato.
d. Qualora venga selezionato, il film non può essere presentato in alcun modo in Italia prima della proiezione a Bergamo Film Meeting (06 – 14 marzo 2027).

2.3 ISCRIZIONE E SCADENZE
a. È prevista una quota di iscrizione pari a 15 euro. Chi volesse proporre un film per la selezione deve far pervenire un link protetto da password (preferibilmente Vimeo, valido fino al termine del Festival e con l'opzione di download) corredato da materiale informativo sul film (sinossi, biofilmografia del regista, note di regia, almeno due fotografie del film e una del regista), compilando il form online entro il 4 dicembre 2026 su filmfreeway.com/BergamoFilmMeeting.
b. Video Library: attraverso l'entry form online è possibile autorizzare il Festival ad inserire i film iscritti nella Video Library. Il servizio, il cui accesso è riservato ai soli professionisti accreditati (produttori, distributori, altri festival, stampa), ha scopo puramente promozionale. I film selezionati nelle due sezioni competitive sono automaticamente inclusi nella Video Library, salvo diversi accordi con i titolari dei diritti.

2.4 PREMI E GIURIE
La giuria del pubblico del Festival, composta da spettatori, professionisti, critici, giornalisti e responsabili culturali, assegna:
- 1°, 2° e 3° Premio Bergamo Film Meeting ai tre migliori film della sezione Mostra Concorso. Alla produzione del film vincitore è riconosciuto un premio in denaro del valore di 5.000 euro (al lordo delle imposte).
- Premio Miglior Documentario al film della sezione Visti da Vicino. Alla produzione del film vincitore è riconosciuto un premio in denaro del valore di 2.000 euro (al lordo delle imposte).
Inoltre, sono assegnati i seguenti premi:
- Premio per la Miglior Regia, riservato ai film della sezione Mostra Concorso, assegnato da una giuria internazionale di professionisti di settore del valore di 2.000 euro (al lordo delle imposte).
- Premio della Giuria CGIL, composta dai delegati sindacali di CGIL Bergamo, riservato al film della sezione Visti da Vicino che meglio affronta le tematiche sociali e legate al mondo del lavoro. Al regista del film è riconosciuto il premio "La sortie de l'usine", del valore di 1.000 euro (al lordo delle imposte).

L'assegnazione di altri eventuali premi messi in palio da Enti o Sponsor avviene in base ai regolamenti stabiliti dai rispettivi patrocinatori.

I produttori e i distributori, nonché gli addetti all'acquisto e alla vendita dei film premiati, si impegnano a riportare su ciascuna copia dei film in distribuzione e sul materiale pubblicitario (manifesto, cartella stampa, trailer, sito internet, ecc.) la menzione del premio ricevuto a Bergamo Film Meeting. Il logo ufficiale dei diversi premi è fornito dal Festival e non deve in alcun modo essere modificato senza l'autorizzazione di Bergamo Film Meeting.

PROIEZIONI
3.1 Il calendario e l'orario delle proiezioni sono di competenza degli organizzatori del Festival.
3.2 I film non italiani saranno presentati in versione originale sottotitolata. Per i film parlati in una lingua diversa dall'inglese, la copia fornita al Festival deve essere sottotitolata in inglese.

MATERIALI
4.1 Le copie dei film selezionati per i due concorsi devono pervenire entro il 21 febbraio 2027 e verranno cancellate entro due settimane dalla fine del Festival. Solo in casi eccezionali, e per ragioni motivate, il termine per l'arrivo del film può essere protratto.
4.2 Le copie dei film devono essere inviate in formato DCP o via file, attraverso la piattaforma indicata dal Festival o secondo le modalità che vengono fornite a seguito della selezione.
4.3 Ai fini della produzione dei sottotitoli italiani, è necessario fornire il file dei sottotitoli in inglese in formato .srt con timecode, oltre al file video in bassa risoluzione della versione definitiva del film in lingua originale, con sottotitoli in inglese.

PROMOZIONE
5.1 Per la redazione del catalogo generale e le attività promozionali del Festival, i titolari dei film selezionati per la Mostra Concorso e i Visti da Vicino devono far pervenire entro il 24 gennaio 2027 il seguente materiale (qualora non l'avessero già inviato):
- fotografie differenti del film in alta definizione - per le quali si autorizza la pubblicazione gratuita - da inserire nel catalogo del Festival e da mettere a disposizione della stampa e dei profili social e sito web del Festival;
- link al sito ufficiale, trailer e social network del film;
- manifesti, locandine e ogni altro materiale promozionale sia in formato digitale sia, ove possibile, in formato cartaceo (da inviare alla sede operativa del Festival – i costi di spedizione sono a carico del proponente).
5.2 Bergamo Film Meeting si riserva il diritto di diffondere il trailer (max 5 min.) delle opere selezionate, in relazione alle attività di promozione del Festival e a discrezione dello stesso, su canali televisivi (anche via satellite) e online, sia sul sito ufficiale del Festival che sui social media ad esso collegati (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo...).
5.3 Il film viene messo a disposizione nella Video Library del Festival, durante i 9 giorni della manifestazione, ad uso esclusivo della stampa, dei giurati e dei professionisti del settore.
5.4 Il regista di ogni film selezionato nella sezione Mostra Concorso è invitato a partecipare a BFM e ospitato a Bergamo per un periodo massimo di 4 giorni (3 notti), a carico del Festival.
Il regista di ogni film selezionato nella sezione Visti da Vicino è invitato a partecipare a BFM e ospitato a Bergamo per un periodo massimo di 3 giorni (2 notti), a carico del Festival. L'invito per il regista è strettamente personale. Le spese di viaggio, per il solo regista, vengono rimborsate nei limiti e nelle modalità stabilite da Bergamo Film Meeting.
Chi iscrive un film a BFM si impegna a garantire la presenza al Festival del regista o di un rappresentante del film stesso, per presentare l'opera e partecipare ai Q&A.
5.5 Salvo accordi diversi con gli aventi diritto, Bergamo Film Meeting può effettuare ulteriori presentazioni dei film, organizzando apposite manifestazioni culturali promozionali in altre città italiane.

IMPREVISTI E CONTROVERSIE
Il presente regolamento è redatto in italiano e in inglese. In caso di discordanze interpretative, fa fede la versione italiana. L'accoglimento dell'invito a partecipare a Bergamo Film Meeting implica l'accettazione incondizionata del presente regolamento. Tutte le questioni non contemplate nel presente regolamento sono di competenza del Consiglio Direttivo di Bergamo Film Meeting ETS. Per ogni eventuale controversia è competente il Foro di Bergamo.
