Somewhere between performance art and ethnography, the intimate and the burlesque, plasticity and the phantasmagorical, the films of Matthew Lancit merge and break apart traditional categorization. They have won accolades at festivals around the world, and have been invited to New York (Museum of Moving Image, UnionDocs, Anthology Film Archives), the Kaohsiung Film Archive, the Musée Quai Branly,, the Jerusalem Cinémathèque, the Arsenal in Berlin, and have been chosen for preservation by the Library and Archives of Canada, and Argos centre for audiovisual arts in Belgium.
