Dance Source Houston is seeking submissions for Barnstorm Dance Fest 2026. Films selected will be screened twice during the week-long festival, taking place April 13-18 at Midtown Arts & Theatre Center Houston. The festival, launched in 2015, features 3 unique programs, workshops and classes, artist talks, and more. In keeping with the mission of the live performance programming of the festival, the dance on film program will be curated with a focus on highlighting choreographers working in any dance form from Greater Houston, across Texas, and beyond.

Rules & Terms

Eligibility
- Films should be 3-10 minutes in length.
- Works in progress will not be considered.
- Artists whose works, either film or live performance, were included in the past 2 consecutive festivals (2024 & 2025) are ineligible for 2026 consideration. We encourage you to apply next year for the 2027 festival.
- Submissions from choreographers and filmmakers working in all dance forms are encouraged.
- A $10 application fee is required for each submission.
- Choreographers are encouraged to attend the screenings if possible, but the ability to attend does not affect eligibility or consideration.
- Choreographers whose works are selected for inclusion will receive a $100 stipend.

    Participating in the DanceSource Houston Film Festival, part of the larger Barnstorm Dance Fest, was a truly heartwarming experience. Though I couldn’t be there in person, the entire team’s exceptional communication made me feel connected and supported throughout. The festival was incredibly well-organized, and the attention to detail was evident in every aspect. One of the most rewarding surprises was reconnecting with a friend I hadn’t seen in over 25 years – a testament to how dance can bridge time and space, bringing us back to the people and passions that matter. DanceSource Houston created a space that not only celebrated dance on camera but also fostered genuine connections. Bravo to the entire team for a fantastic festival experience!

    I couldn't attend the event but all the communications were smooth and efficients, the team working for the festival is very kind and helpful.
    I received a fee for the screening, I find this policy respectful for the artists.

    Excellent and timely communication, reasonable entry fees, and a cash honorarium for accepted films makes B/ARN STORM DANCE FEST a stand out festival.
