One can tell when a film festival is made by people who really love film, who evaluate documentaries by their content and not by their hype. The Bajío Documentary Film Festival falls into that category. And it's in Querétaro, one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico (and the world)...

The festival is very promising in the quality of films it presents and the valuation of documentary filmmaking. We're so pleased to have had our film in the first edition, hoping to come back with another one in a future edition!

Great festival! So sad I wasnt able to attend in person, but it was an honor for my film to be screened and selected as a winner. The staff was very communicative. I hope to attend in person one day

  • Although I was not able to attend the Bajío Documentary Film Festival in person, I am deeply honored that my short film was selected and even received an award this year. Knowing that the film was screened in a community close to Mexiko City - where my film was made - means a great deal to me.

Thank you, Bajío Documentary Film Festival, for this recognition and for your commitment to documentary as a form of dialogue, memory, and transformation. I hope that in the future I will have the chance to join you in person.

  • Participating in the Bajío Documentary Film Festival has been an exceptional experience from start to finish. The communication from Jon and the team has been clear, warm and genuinely supportive, and being recognised with the award for Best Original Idea for Femmes Fatales has been a truly humbling honour.

I genuinely wish I could have been there in person to collect the award, but being based in Perth, Western Australia, made that impossible this year. Even so, I’m deeply grateful that the festival embraces and uplifts stories from all over the world, ensuring that voices from every corner have a place on their platform.

What stood out most was the festival’s commitment to independent storytellers and its dedication to showcasing diverse voices with care and authenticity. Every step of the process — from selection to screening updates — was handled with professionalism and real enthusiasm for the work being shared.

This festival embodies exactly what emerging and independent filmmakers need: respect for the craft, strong communication, and a platform that values originality and cultural expression. I’m grateful for the recognition and for the opportunity to be part of a festival that is clearly building something meaningful for documentary creators.

I highly recommend the Bajío Documentary Film Festival to any filmmaker seeking a thoughtful, encouraging and artist-centred environment. I’d happily participate again.
