Boresha Afya, Jenga Jamii Audio- Visual Festival aims at bringing the Creative Industry in Kenya on Board in supporting Health Promotion in Kenya. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed existing gaps in the health sector in this case, the need for collaboration between public and private entities in the production of Audio-Visual content aimed at facilitating health communication and education in the country. Creatives will be expected to submit into various categories of Audio- Visual Content that will be their contribution to the National Campaign and winners will be awarded at the launch of the online festival gala screening to be held on December 12th 2020.
The Festival will accept short Audio-Visual Material not more than 15 minutes.
About the Division of Health Promotion Kenya
The Division of Health Promotion (DHP) is one of the technical divisions of the Ministry of Health. The mandate of the division is to provide leadership and coordination of health promotion programmes and activities in Kenya.
Background on Health Education in the midst of COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic was first discovered in China in December, 2019 and has continued to spread in other parts of the world. In this regard, the MOH has been tasked to shift focus towards the fight of the pandemic by involving the division of Health Promotion in formulating a health education plan to aid in the fight of the disease. At the same time , the Ministry is keen to keep general health education and public health awareness going on in a holistic nature.
Objectives
1. Communicate health education/capacity building efforts to stakeholders.
2. To identify capacity building needs and resources.
3. Facilitate communication opportunities relating to health education.
4. To provide specialized expertise/resources on a specific issue that arises.
Winners will be announced and awarded on an online Gala Awards Ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Health, Division of Health Promotion in Partnership with other Development Partners.
Official Awards of Ministry of Health Kenya will be in form of Trophies and Certificates.
On Occasion of this edition of the Audio Visual Festival, Jurors comprising of Leading film Writers, Directors, Producers, Health Messaging Experts will evaluate and then select the best pieces in each categories, selected materials will then be subjected to a public online voting system where Kenyans will vote for their most favorite Items. Selected items will be screened in an online Festival from 10th- 11th December 2020 which will be crowned with an online Gala awards ceremony on 12th December 2020.
