All submissions must be digital through FilmFreeway.
All submissions must be the original work and the submitter must own the rights to the submitted work. It should be understood that if your film is accepted for presentation and screening at our festival, that you give full and unrestricted permission for BIFA to screen your film. Some film may be selected to also screen on Houston Media Source to audiences who may not be able to attend the festival but will get a oppotunity to see your film project.
By submitting your project, you authorize the festival to use clips or full digital assets supplied (including trailer/teaser/film poster/stills) for promotional purposes.
Films must include English subtitles (unless the spoken language is English).
Filmmakers with Exceptional Creativity will receive the BIFA Staircase Award.

We are a non-profit (501c3) organization with a Tax-Exemption status. Which means we do not receive any funds from the proceeds; as they are fully retained by the festival and used to cover overall cost of the festival.

The filmmaker releases BIFA from any and all liability for any damages of the video entered. BIFA will secure the video and every effort will be made to protect and control the viewing of the production. BIFA is not liable for any theft, copyright violations or privacy of the videos entered.

BIFA Film Festival reserves the right to make any necessary changes to the program.

BIFA is not responsible for any transportation , travel costs or any other cost associated with your attendance to our film festival should you choose to attend. We strongly encourage all film makers to promote their film using social media, friends and family, to help encourage attendance to their individual films, and when possible to send a representative to the films screening and any award ceremony to except any awards that their film may receive, engage in a Q&A session about their film.
