Antelope Valley College is hosting its inaugural Independent Film Festival Friday, October 13th & Saturday, 14th at the Performing Arts Theater.

The Antelope Valley College Independent Film Festival’s goal is to celebrate films, filmmaking and the art of cinema, while educating and engaging the community with two days of screenings and panel discussions with filmmakers. It is our hope to provide a venue for filmmakers to exhibit their latest work, meet other filmmakers and discuss their work and their process while at the same time providing audience feedback though Q&A sessions.

We are seeking short and feature length narrative films as well as documentary films from all genres.

For our program we are looking for the following submissions:

-Feature Length Narrative (Drama, Comedy, Horror, Thriller, Science Fiction)
-Feature Length Documentary
-Short Narrative (Drama, Comedy, Horror, Thriller, Science Fiction)
-Short Documentary
-Animated Feature Length
-Animated Short
-Student Feature Length
-Student Short

Time Categories:
Feature Length (All Genres) Narrative, Documentary, Animated or Student= 70+ minutes
Short Length (All Genres) Narrative, Documentary, Animated or Student= 69 minutes or less

Best Narrative Feature Film
Best Narrative Short Film
Best Feature Documentary
Best Short Documentary

Best High School Student Film

-Submissions must have been completed no earlier than September 2020 to be eligible.
-More than one entry may be submitted. Each entry must be submitted individually.
-All films selected to be screened at the festival must be captioned. Therefore, the submissions must be captioned or the filmmakers will need to give Antelope Valley College permission to Caption the submission before screening.
-Films produced in languages other than English must have legible English subtitles.
-Entrants assume all responsibility for clearing music and other copyrighted materials associated with the film being submitted.
-The selection committees’ and juries’ decisions are final.
-If your film is selected, you will be asked to provide digital stills and art work from the film.
-If accepted you will be asked to provide Antelope Valley College with an H.264 or high quality .Mp4 of your project to screen at the festival.
-Applicants acknowledge that by submitting these materials it gives Antelope Valley College the right to use images and video from your film for programming and promotional materials.

Submissions & Process:

-Applicants must apply using the entry form via FilmFreeway.
-Applicants must provide an uploaded .MP4 file with the film for entry. It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure that the file is operational.
