CORTO DORICO - Amnesty International Award - “Short on Rights”

ENG:
1. Each author can compete with a maximum of 2 (two) works.
2. The competition will accept works by authors of any nationality and language, as long as they are not Italian productions (to whom the NATIONAL COMPETITION is dedicated). The short films admitted to the selection may be of any kind, provided that they deal with issues related to human and/or civil rights.
3. To be considered for selection the submitted works must meet the following requirements:
a) they must be no longer than 30' (including titles);
b) they must have been completed after January 1st, 2023;
c) they must not have been selected as finalists in previous editions of Corto Dorico competitions;
d) industrial or commercial films are not accepted.
Failure to comply with the requirements of the aforementioned a), b), c), and d) points will result in the exclusion from the competition and the non-reimbursement of the registration fee.
4. The payment of an entry fee is required to be allowed to participate.

- € 5,00 (five euros/00) for the Earlybird Deadline
- € 8,00 (eight euros/00) for the Regular Deadline
- € 10,00 (ten euros/00) for the Late Deadline

The payment of the fee entitles directors to submit up to 2 (two) short films and does not change if only one film is submitted.
If the submitter is a film producer and/or a distributor, he/she will be required to pay as many fees as the submitted works, if they are each by different directors. If the producer and/or distributor submits more works done by the same director (respecting the maximum limit of two works per author) he will be entitled to the payment of only one fee per pair of films.
Entries should be submitted only through the FilmFreeway platform, where you will be able to pay the entry fee.

Earlybird Deadline: no later than midnight, 5th of July 2024

Regular Deadline: no later than midnight, 13th of September 2024

Late Deadline: no later than midnight, 4th of October 2024

5. Upon registration, all of the fields which comprise the submission form must be filled in in (personal data, contacts, bio, synopsis, film stills, director’s portrait), with an indication of one or more of the topics addressed by the film among those listed above:
a) Civil and political rights (Freedom of expression and participation,…)
b) Economical, cultural and social rights (Health, education, housing, work,…)
c) Discrimination (Women, Minorities, LGBTI,…)
d) Migrants (Refugees, displaced persons, asylum seekers,…)
e) Violations by state and non-state actors (Torture, death penalty, conflicts,..)
6. Participating films must display subtitles in Italian (preferably) or English. If the film dialogues are in English, submitters are also required to include the subtitle file in English when sending the film.
7. Accepted formats: mpg4 / quicktime apple pro res HQ / H264.
Resolution: 1920 x 1080 pixel or 2048x1080

GENERAL RULES
a. Incomplete or illegible submitted copies will not be considered for selection.
b. Filmmakers and/or producers and/or distributors are responsible for the content of their works. By entering the competition they automatically acknowledge that they have fulfilled any obligations towards third parties, including royalties, copyright image rights, brands and patents for industrial inventions; they must ensure and declare that the work does not contain defamatory content. In any case the participant releases the organization from all liability, from any and all losses, damages, costs, charges and expenses whatsoever that may be incurred due to the content of the work and of its public screening.
c. These regulations have been formulated in Italian and English. In case of dispute, the Italian language version will be final.
d. The submitted works will not be returned and will become part of the archives of Nie Wiem. They will eventually be shown for non-profit cultural and educational purposes. The Organization reserves the right to show the short films received for future events with the obligation to cite the source and inform the authors or right holders.
e. The payment of the awards’ prize money will be delivered 120 days after the end of the event.
f. The short films that will be selected as finalists may also be taken into consideration as future recipients of the patronage and/or the promotion on Italian territory by Amnesty International Italia.

FRE:
1. Chaque auteur pourra concourir avec deux œuvres maximum.
2. Le concours est ouvert aux œuvres d’auteurs de toutes les nationalités et de toutes les langues à l’exception des ressortissants italiens (les auteurs de nationalité italienne pourront participer au CONCORSO NAZIONALE, concours national qui leur est dédié, règlement disponible sur le site www.cortodorico.it). Les courts métrages admis à la sélection pourront être de tous les genres à condition qu’ils traitent, même si la manière et la forme ne sont pas conventionnelles, les thèmes liés aux droits de l’homme et du citoyen, aux droits humains et/ou civiques.
3. Pour être admises au concours, les œuvres devront respecter les conditions suivantes sous peine d’exclusion :
a) avoir une durée non supérieure à 30 minutes titres et génériques inclus ;
b) avoir été achevées après le 1er janvier 2023;
c) ne pas avoir été finalistes aux précédentes éditions du concours Corto Dorico ;
d) ne pas être des films publicitaires ou industriels.
En cas d’exclusion du concours pour le non-respect des conditions ci-dessus a), b), c) et d), les frais d’inscription mentionnés à l’article suivant, art. 4, ne seront pas remboursés.

4. Le paiement d'un droit d'inscription est requis pour pouvoir participer.

- € 5,00 (cinq euros/00) pour la date limite d'inscription anticipée
- € 8,00 (huit euros/00) pour la date limite normale
- € 10,00 (dix euros/00) pour la date limite tardive

Cette somme permet à l’auteur d’envoyer jusqu’à 2 (deux) films courts métrages mais ne varie aucunement s’il n’envoie qu’une seule œuvre.
Si le/les film/s est/sont envoyé/és par un producteur et/ou un distributeur, ce dernier est tenu de verser autant de fois la somme prescrite en fonction du nombre d’auteurs et d’œuvres inscrites selon les indications ci-avant. Par exemple, pour deux œuvres de deux auteurs différents : il procèdera à deux inscriptions séparées et à deux versements distincts. Si un producteur et/ou un distributeur inscrit plus d’une œuvre d’un même auteur/réalisateur (deux œuvres max pour chaque auteur), il ne devra verser qu’une seule fois la somme pour ces deux films (voir ci-avant).

Date limite normale : au plus tard le 13 septembre 2024 à minuit

Date limite : au plus tard le 4 octobre 2024 à minuit

5. Au moment de l’inscription, il faudra remplir tous les champs de la fiche (infos personnelles d’état civil, coordonnées, biographie, synopsis, photo film, photo auteur/réalisateur) et cocher le ou les thème/s abordé/s parmi les suivants :
a) Droits civils et politiques (Liberté d’expression et de participation, …)
b) Droits économiques, culturels et sociaux (santé, instruction, logement, travail, …)
c) Discrimination (Femmes, Minorités, LGBTI, …)
d) Migrants (Réfugiés, Déplacés, Demandeurs d’asile, …)
e) Violations commises par des acteurs gouvernementaux ou pas (Torture, Peine de Mort, Conflits, ...)
6. Les films inscrits devront être sous-titrés de préférence en langue italienne, ou bien en langue anglaise. Si le film est parlé en anglais, il faut aussi envoyer le fichier des sous-titres en anglais au même moment que l’œuvre.

Dispositions générales
a. Les œuvres parvenues incomplètes ou illisibles ne seront pas prises en considération.
b. La personne signant l’acte d’inscription déclare détenir tous les droits d’utilisation de l’œuvre et de chacun des éléments qui la compose ; elle garantit aussi que les contenus de cette œuvre sont à sa disposition et ne violent aucune loi ni règlement en cours de validité, ni les droits d’un tiers et en particulier : les droits d’auteur, le droit à l’image, les signes distinctifs et les brevets d’inventions industrielles ; elle garantit et déclare, en outre, que l’œuvre ne présente aucun contenu diffamatoire. Dans tous les cas, le participant dégage l’Organisation de toute responsabilité en cas de dommages éventuels, pertes, responsabilités, coûts, charges et frais de quelque nature que ce soit, dérivant du contenu de l’œuvre et de sa projection en public.
c. Les œuvres inscrites ne seront pas rendues et intègreront le patrimoine des archives de l’Organisation du Festival. Elles pourront être montrées à des fins culturelles et didactiques à but non lucratif. L’Organisation se réserve le droit d’utiliser par la suite le matériel parvenu, dans le cadre d’éventuelles manifestations, tout en s’engageant à citer obligatoirement la source et à en informer, au préalable, les auteurs ou les propriétaires des droits.
d. Le paiement des Prix en argent se fera à 120 jours de la clôture de la manifestation.
e. Les courts métrages qui seront sélectionnés comme finalistes pourront également être pris en considération en tant que futurs récipiendaires du mécénat et/ou de la promotion sur le territoire italien par Amnesty International Italia
