"Roaring Tides" is the first project where Aly has gotten out from her typical role behind the camera to write, direct, produce and star in her own project.
She is a passionate artist, dedicated to storytelling and was inspired to create "Roaring Tides," after learning the art of making a Feature Length anthology film as an Advanced Student in James Franco's NYC Master Class.
Other training includes working with Academy Award Winner, Olympia Dukakis, Improv & Comedy at Upright Citizens Brigade NY, Clown & Physical Comedy Expert Aitor Basauri, American Playwright/Founder of The Rattlestick Theater David Van Asselt, and On-Camera Experts Devin Shacket and Ted Sluberski.
"Roaring Tides" is Aly's filmmaking debut. As a first-time filmmaker, her film has been an official selection at Chelsea Film Festival, Long Beach International Film Festival, Hoboken International Film Festival, Fort Myers Film Festival, a Semi-Finalist at Official Latino Film Festival and has been awarded, "Best New Director 2018" at NYC Chain Film Festival and Winner of Best "Female Filmmaker" at Best Shorts Competition.
Her next short-film, “The Beginning” is a project filmed pre-Covid, during the pandemic (safely following protocols) and after. A project shot over this period of time was a unique experience and as a Female Filmmaker, Aly went through the creation of this film along side pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and post-pregnancy milestones of her first child throughout the films creation — This personal experience is something incorporated into the film, providing a special touch of magic to the storyline and for her character, “Eve” with themes of “Creation” and “Women Empowerment” at the heart of the storyline… A clear case of "life imitating art."
