Only audiovisual works created using animation techniques are accepted for participation in the contest. If multiple techniques are used, animation must play a dominant role or be a key element in the perception of the work. Works created before 2023 are not eligible for participation. Also, works that have previously participated in the contest in past years are not accepted.

Submissions are made through the Filmfreeway.com platform. Registration for participation in the International and Student Contest is open from February 5, 2024, to June 1, 2024.

After the submission deadline, a preliminary selection of films for contest participation will be conducted. The selection is carried out by the Almaty Animation Festival program council, which includes festival representatives, program department staff, and management. The decision to admit a film to the contest is made exclusively by the organizers. The list of selected films will be published on the almatyanimfest.com website no later than July 5, 2024, and also sent to the authors by email. Contest works must meet the conditions and technical requirements specified in the festival regulations.
Participants are required to provide subtitles in .srt format.

Almaty Animation Festival reserves the right to freely show the films accepted for contest participation during the festival and place them in an online video library for registered visitors.
The author whose film is shown at the festival grants Almaty Animation Festival the right to freely use the work, as well as submitted photographs, graphic and textual materials for the festival catalog, website, promotional materials, reports, and DVD editions of the festival without restrictions on territory, time, volume, and method of use.
