Adolf El Assal is a Luxembourgish filmmaker and producer born in Egypt.
Known for blending humour with serious themes in his movies, one of his most recognised feature films is SAWAH, which narrates the tale of a DJ, who loses his identity and mistakenly ends up in a country he's never heard of before.

With his diverse background shaping his work, El Assal has garnered recognition at various international film festivals, highlighting his unique and versatile approach to filmmaking.
After graduating with a MA in Filmmaking in 2008, he directed the award-winning short films LA FAMEUSE ROUTE… and MANO DE DIOS.

In 2014, he completed his first feature film LES (FAMEUX) GARS, which was successfully distributed in French-speaking territories.

His latest project is BARAKI, a critically-acclaimed and popular Belgian television series that he co-directed, is currently streaming on Netflix France and Benelux.

Ady is also a two-times Berlinale Talents alumni (2006 & 2023) and a member of the European Film Academy as well as EAVE and Screen Leaders.
