I see film as a painting, where hundreds of artists all contribute. One might do the shading, one might do the blues, one might do the framing. In the end the finished piece can change the world.
I've had an unconventional path through life, from small-town trans kid who joined the British Army to "learn to be a man", to elite British Army Special OP soldier, to industrial climber, to security for the music industry to ER nurse, and many things in between.
I've lived and worked all over the world, both as a soldier and later doing humanitarian aid work. I've been homeless and dined with royalty, known love and losses, faced demons and angels and come out the other side relatively sane.
I endeavour to see life as a work in progress and not become languid. Writing has given me an outlet for keeping that fire burning, at a stage in life that might be very easy to sink into apathy. Writing has gone from a hobby on days off from my work as an ER nurse, to a full-time passion.
I aspire to write stories that touch people and help them see the world differently, drawing on both my own life and people I've met along the way for inspiration. I'm inspired by films I grew up with that weren't just for entertainment, but that shaped the way I saw the world and made me empathize with others. Movies don't just reflect a society back at itself, but help shape it. In that way I believe a story can be both entertaining and help us grow as a person a little every time.
My goal here is to connect with those who feel passionate about storytelling, and shaping the world through those stories, so that together we can contribute something new and meaningful, while still entertaining.
