ANFX Film Festival showcases the very best of short form animation and VFX films in Aotearoa New Zealand. Based in Wellington - the Creative Capital - the Festival focuses especially on young creators, experimental forms, Māori voices and emerging approaches.

ANFX Film Fest is open to enter.
Awards and prizes are for Aotearoa New Zealand entrants.
You don't have to attend the festival to submit a film.
Entries open Monday 15th July
Entries close 18th August 2024 (except student submissions)
Student Entries close 20th September
Only films completed after Nov 1st, 2022 are eligible.

Animated Short Films, VFX Films and Experimental/Non Narrative shorts should be under 20 minutes.
Student Films should be under 15 minutes.

Animation and/or VFX should feature strongly in your short film.

If your film has dialogue that is not in English, it should have English subtitles.
AI-assisted works should include a description of how AI was used in the film's creation.

If any entries are discovered to be plagiarised or copies of pre-existing films, the entrant(s) will be disqualified.

Include 3 stills from the film (300 dpi, jpg or png), a log line for your film, short film synopsis, a director’s short biography and a director’s photo (72 dpi, jpg or png). These will be used to promote your film in the festival.

The Festival reserves the right to use excerpts from selected works, pictures and trailers, for the Festival’s promotional purposes.
