Rules & Terms

The Austin Asian American Film Festival seeks to screen films that meet any of the following criteria:

-Films written, directed, and/or produced by Asian or Asian American filmmakers, made inside or outside the United States.

-Films featuring Asian or Asian American actors or subjects.

-Films that engage with the lives and experiences of Asian or Asian American people and communities, inside or outside Asia.

For these purposes, Asia is defined broadly, including the countries of East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and Western Asia.

The 16th Austin Asian American Film Festival will be held from June 26–30, 2024 at AFS Cinema. All finalized works must be completed and shipped at least one month prior to the screening date. This contract is binding and you will be held responsible for the information in your submission.

    It was such a special time at AAAFF - very well organized, hospitable, and fun! The staff were so friendly and it was wonderful getting to know them. The events were awesome - from the filmmakers lounge, late-night karaoke, the closing-night hangout, and more! They helped grab us a hotel, shuttle us to events off the theater area, and more. Would definitely come back!

    I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with AAAFF! It was an honor to be included among so many wonderful films and talented filmmakers. The folks at AAAFF we're forced to change the event to a virtual festival after the fallout from COVID-19. They handled the last minute changes very gracefully and professionally. They communicated with us every step of the way. And not a single one of my inquiries went unanswered (and I had a lot!). They went out of their way to make the event as special as possible. They staged plenty of interactive activities and networking opportunities.
