Zaporizhzhia International Film Festival (ZIFF) is an annual International Short Film Festival, which takes place in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine. ZIFF brings domestic and international films to the central cinema in downtown Zaporizhzhia and celebrates creativity and imagination.

The festival’s objective is to promote national cinema, showcase films and video works produced in collaboration with or by creators from all over the globe. We highly value short films that feature Zaporizhzhia region. The festival aims to support emerging authors, encourage cultural exchange between the participants, and draw attention to the art of cinema.

The Festival will take place in September 2024.

ZIFF program includes the following sections:
- International Competition Program
- National Competition Program

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION AWARDS
The jury determines the winners of the National Competition Program in the category ‘The best international short film’. The acknowledgments are:

· Main Award (Original Trophy)
· Special Mention(s) – the juries are eligible to give one or two special awards

NATIONAL COMPETITION AWARDS
Only Ukrainian citizens are eligible to apply. The jury determines the winners of the National Competition Program in the following categories:
· ‘The best Ukrainian fiction short film’
· ‘The best Ukrainian documentary short film’
· ‘The best Ukrainian animated short film’
· ‘The best Scenario about Zaporizhzhia region in honor of Zaicev’

The winners of the National Competition Program are acknowledged with a Cash Award and the Original Trophy. The juries are eligible to give one or two special awards.

PROCEDURE
Firstly, the films are previewed by the selection committee members based in Ukraine.
Secondly, after the best films are selected, the films are proposed to take part in Zaporizhzhia International Film Festival. Finally, the featured submissions are showcased and the winners are awarded.
ELIGIBILITY
We accept :
– Short films (fiction, documentary, and animation)
– Scenarios
Submitted films must be completed in 2023 or 2024, ranging from 10 to 40 minutes.

When submitting your film, please note that:
– You must be not younger than 18 years old
– You agree to screen the film during the festival and provide the organizational committee with all necessary materials.

There are no restrictions on the participants’ submissions, except for the citizens of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, who may be subject to sanctions under the laws of the United States, the EU, the UN, Switzerland or another country, or are subject to the Law of Ukraine ‘On Sanctions’.

The submission is free of charge.

Nomination date — September 22, 2024

SUBMISSION

To submit your film, please visit the Dovzhenko cinema website http://dov.zp.ua/ and submit the Google Form or upload the film file directly to FilmFreeway. Filmmakers, producers, distributors, or other legal representatives may submit films, but the submitter must have the legal right to negotiate the use of the work with ZIFF.

By submitting an entry form, you agree to all terms and conditions stated in the festival regulations. We long for your stories! Let’s praise the art of short filmmaking together!

The film festival is financed by the regional and state budgets and other funding sources that are not prohibited by the current legislation of Ukraine.

    Це було просто неймовірно ! Єдина проблема, що фестиваль не перенесли в інше місто, як це зробив наприклад "Одеський кінофестиваль". На мою думку, це було б краще для глядачів та учасників і звісно ж безпечніше

  • The festival, which does not have a normal online organization, the site works very poorly, you can only find information on Facebook, but only in Ukrainian. bad festival due to poor online organization.
