We invite filmmakers, visual artists, and film students from around the world to submit their short films — in the categories of animation, documentary, experimental, or fiction — to the 6th edition of the International 2 Sides Short Film Festival.
At 2YKFF, we care about bringing two sides together — in every sense of the phrase. Our selections bring together distinctive short films from diverse cultures, genres, and perspectives, while focusing on the lived experiences of all identities, ways of life, races, ethnicities, beliefs, and genders. Through boutique screenings and events held in alternative venues, we seek out new ways of watching and sharing films collectively.
Each year, we collaborate with a film/art initiative from a different part of the world to cultivate new spaces for collective thinking, research, and action in the field of short film. Following past partnerships with Balkan Can Kino (Athens), bi’bakino (Berlin), Galerie de Jaloezie (Rotterdam), Dziga (Nijmegen), and FetFilm (Stockholm), we are excited to announce this year’s partnerships with The Film Gallery (Paris) and EV.ankara (Ankara).
"CRACK"
While continuing to emphasize “our differences, our diversity, our sensitivity,” this year’s edition invites films that explore the theme CRACK.
A crack reveals where things break and where change begins to seep through. It speaks to the spaces where old systems crack, where silence is interrupted, and where something new demands to emerge — along with the traces these ruptures leave behind. This theme opens a space for narratives that explore personal or collective cracks, moments of rupture, and processes of resistance or transformation.
We welcome short films produced in 2021 or later, with a duration between 5 and 20 minutes. While selecting the films to be featured in the festival, we consider not only thematic relevance, but also originality, innovative form, and a cohesive aesthetic.
We’re excited to watch your films!
International 2 Sides Short Film Festival is conducted by Digital Film Atelier (DFA).
About 2YKFF
The International 2 Sides Short Film Festival (2YKFF) partners each year with a film initiative from a different part of the world to foster intercultural dialogue and connect two sides.
In addition to showcasing unique short film productions across animation, documentary, experimental, and fiction genres, the festival also hosts capacity-building and networking activities within the short film ecosystem.
2YKFF nurtures a culture of collective viewing and sharing by transforming social spaces into venues for screenings and events. The festival stands for the right of all individuals to access, participate in, and contribute to this shared cultural experience.
Everyone is a winner! All selected films deserve a prize and we believe that it’s valuable to give the storytellers an opportunity to share their stories.
Thank you for your interest and we look forward to seeing your work!
