Cheongju International Short Film Festival presents movies that are touching, entertaining, and short but strong.
The program team of the 23rd Cheongju International Short Film Festival is hosting the festival under the motto of 'Film Festival for the Audience, by the Audience, of the Audience'.
1. Organization
The Cheongju International Short Film Festival(CISFF) is organized by the Cheongju International Short Film Festival Association(non-profit incorporated association) and hosted by the CISFF Executive Committee.
Discussions on the Cheongju International Short Film Festival began in 1999 when Kim Kyung-sik, the first chairman of the association, established the Chungbuk Film Council.
The official start of the Cheongju International Short Film Festival is the "Cheongju City Excellent Short Film Festival" held by Kim Kyung-sik, the first president of the Cheongju Film Artists Association, a division established in 2004.
At that time, the main programs were "Invited Screenings for Outstanding Short Films in Korea" and "Cheongju Youth Film Class" aimed at fostering future film talents.
Since then, the festival has been renamed the "Cheongju City Digital Short Film Festival" in 2006, attempting to make changes in line with the digital era. Then in 2013, director Eo Il-sun took office as the second president, renaming it as the "Cheongju International Short Film Festival," inviting foreign films to diversify the program.
The city of Cheongju declared "City of Video Culture" with the launch of the "Cheongju Film Commission" in 2017.
In 2019, director Kim Youn-sik became the third president, and the festival name was updated to "Cheongju International Short Film Festival (CISFF)".
In 2020, the Cheongju International Short Film Festival Association (non-profit incorporated association) was farmally established, and festival operations were transferred to this organization.
2. Purpose
The Cheongju International Short Film Festival aims to promote the diversity of video culture and independent short film production by discovering and introducing excellent short films from around the world.
Through the festival, CISFF seeks to contribute to the development of the film and cultural content industries, while simultaneously expanding opportunities for public cultural participation and access.
청주국제단편영화제는 감동과 즐거움, 짧지만 강한 울림을 주는 영화들을 선보인다.
제23회 청주국제단편영화제 프로그램팀은 '관객의, 관객에 의한, 관객을 위한'를 모토로 영화제를 주최하고 있다.
1. 조직
청주국제단편영화제는 (사)청주국제단편영화제가 주최하고 청주국제단편영화제 집행위원회가 주관한다.
1999년 김경식 초대회장이 사단법인 충북영화인협회를 설립하면서 청주국제단편영화제에 대한 논의가 시작되었다.
청주국제단편영화제의 공식적인 첫 시작은 2004년 설립된 사단법인 청주영화인협회 김경식 초대회장이 개최한 "청주시 우수단편영화제"다.
당시 주요 프로그램으로는 “국내 우수 단편영화 초청 상영회”와 미래의 영화 인재 양성을 목표로 하는 “청주시 청소년 영화제작교실”을 운영하였다.
이후 영화제의 명칭은 2006년 “청주시 디지털 단편영화제”로 개칭하며, 디지털 시대에 발맞춘 변화를 시도했다. 그리고 2013년에는 어일선 감독이 2대 회장으로 취임하면서 “청주시 국제단편영화제”로 다시 명칭을 변경하면서 해외 영화들을 초청하여 프로그램을 다양화하기 시작했다.
청주시는 2017년 “청주 영상위원회” 출범과 함께 “영상 문화도시”를 선포하였다.
2019년에 김윤식 감독이 3대 회장으로 취임하면서 “청주국제단편영화제” 명칭을 변경하였다. 이후 2020년에 “사단법인 청주국제단편영화제”를 설립하며, 영화제 관련 업무를 이관하였다.
2. 목적
청주국제단편영화제는 전 세계의 우수한 단편 영화들을 발굴하여 소개함으로써 영상문화의 다양성, 독립 단편 영화제작 활성화를 목적으로 한다.
축제를 통하여 영화 및 문화콘텐츠산업의 발전에 이바지하고, 시민 문화향유 확대를 동시에 지향함을 목적으로 한다.
