2300 Plan 9 – Les Étranges Nuits du Cinéma
We’re looking for short films under 3 years old and under 20 minutes. Doesn’t matter if you’re a pro, broke, or flat-out insane: if your film scratches, shocks, derails, or simply dares the beautiful and the bizarre, it belongs in the Concours International Courts-mais-Trash of the 2300 Plan 9 festival. The jury decides, the audience screams, and sometimes they even agree (sometimes not, which is even better). What matters is that your work gets the chance to be screened.

2300 Plan 9, aka Les Étranges Nuits du Cinéma, turns La Chaux-de-Fonds into the capital of underground, trashy, proudly unruly cinema for a whole week. No lukewarm popcorn here: we serve an explosive cocktail of twisted films, blood splatter, nervous laughter, and visions that burn into your retinas.

Plan 9 isn’t just a program, it’s an atmosphere: it smells like spilled beer, hand-built sets made with love, and it pulses with live cine-concerts, improbable workshops, and debates as fiery as they are impolite. In short, it’s a place where cinema doesn’t have to sit up straight—where it wallows in bad taste with elegance, only to blow conventions apart.
If you’re looking for politically correct, cross the street. If you want cinema that scratches, shocks, cracks you up, and sticks to your brain like a dried ketchup stain: 2300 Plan 9 is waiting.

The International Courts-mais-Trash Competition of the 2300 Plan 9 festival is open to everyone, with no entry fees. Filmmakers can submit their most unusual, offbeat, and uncompromising creations at no cost.

Two main types of awards are given:
The Jury gives out 3 awards: a ruthless squad of independent and underground film professionals dissects your work without anesthesia, hunting for creativity, originality, and that spark of madness that flips everything upside down.
The Audience Award: a crowd on fire voting live, screaming its verdict, and catapulting its favorite to one-night stardom — raw, brutal, and unstoppable recognition.

None of the awards are financial: all prizes are symbolic, chosen and created in the spirit of the festival.

Article 1
Definition and objectives
The utlitmate goal of the “Courts-Mais-Trash” contest is to give to the audience the opportunity to discover the different «strangeness» by screening short films.
The awards are attributed to one or several film directors based on the «strange quality» without distinction of categories. The contest is open to everyone.
The jury is composed of three to five cultural or cinematic personalities. They will discuss behind closed doors to decide who’s going to receive some prizes or specials acknowledgements. Its decisions are final. No exchange will take place concerning his deliberation and decisions.
The audience also awards a prize to one of the film director. It should be noted that the prices are not pecuniary, but that they are chosen and created in the spirit of the festival.

Article 2
Conditions
The competition is open to everyone, professionals or amateurs. Initially, because of the increasing participation year after year, the movies that will be screened are subject of a pre-selection by a comity composed of the festival organizers.

The films must be carried out or produced after January 1, 2023 and their duration should not exceed 20
minutes. The documentaries and music clip are not allowed in the competiton.

Article 3

  • We are truly honored that our short film “THE RESILIENCE” has been selected and celebrated at the 2300 Plan 9: Les Étranges Nuits du Cinéma.

Being part of this festival is a powerful reminder of why genre cinema matters. It is a space where the strange, the disturbing, and the unconventional are not only accepted but embraced as essential forms of artistic expression.

As director, I, Vadir Sottelo, want to extend my sincere gratitude to the festival programmers and organizers for considering our work within such a carefully curated selection of visionary cinema. It is deeply meaningful to share “The Resilience” with an audience that values bold storytelling and emotional risk-taking.

We thank the festival for its trust, its platform, and its celebration of films that exist beyond the boundaries of the expected.
