Leo Carreño is a Colombian video artist, photographer, sculptor, and taxidermist, (known as Dr. Xikaria). He has studied film production and appreciation, and has developed his artistic work around biology, the emergence of consistent environmental policies, and the use of bodily movement through elements such as staging, hybridization of live plants with anatomies, contemporary dance, and performance. His artistic trajectory has developed over the last 12 years through interdisciplinary experiences, such as art direction and video art for large-scale contemporary dance performances, theater, film productions, and music videos, as well as constant personal creation of video art, video dance, and photographic series exhibited in multiple art exhibitions in Colombia and recently abroad, in countries such as Spain and Belgium.

In his plastic work, "We delve into a natural but staged and therefore fictitious world that can be read as a space of transition between two paradigms: the one that has prevailed and the one that is yet to come. The artist invites us to enter moments that encapsulate traces of all temporalities. Here, the atavistic and the current interweave in the dance of life and death as two inseparable aspects of nature."
