Tyler J. Oakley is a New York based writer, actor, dancer, and filmmaker from San Francisco, CA. He attended the Spindrift School of Performing Arts from ages 9-18 and holds a B.A. in Theatre with a minor in Dance from UC San Diego. He has trained in improv and sketch comedy with Bay Area Theatresports (BATS), National Comedy Theatre (NCT), and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. He currently writes and produces digital shorts for the Laugh Index Theater in Washington DC and The BoogieManja Comedy Collective in New York City.
Oakley has also worked in San Diego regional theatre, playing Evan in Annie Baker's "The Aliens" (ion Theatre) and was a regular player in the Mystery Cafe Dinner Theatre. He's appeared in commercials with Bay Area production companies such as Heist Inc. and The Build Creative, and portrayed Jeffery Rignall in Hoff Production's "Behind the Screams."
To better showcase his voice, Oakley began writing, directing, and producing his own independent shorts in 2017. Since then, his films have been featured and awarded at various film festivals, foreign and domestic, including San Diego Film Week and The Great Canadian Comedy Film Festival. He's best known for his physicality, wit, topical satire, and song parodies.
In his spare time, Oakley enjoys giving back to his community by teaching dance, theater, film, and creative writing to young artistic minds.
