Videographer and field investigator in an applied sociology agency, Thomas directs his action in the field thanks to audiovisual tools and an academic background in anthropology (Universities of Bordeaux and Montreal in 2010). Thomas develops an approach oriented by narratology, leaving a preponderant place for collective representations, practices and imaginations. This sensitivity comes in part from his degree "Image and Society" (M2 Evry 2012), combining documentary film creation and human sciences.
As a director of documentary films, Thomas is interested in the importance of the narrative and the imaginary as ways to structure our identity ; as individuals (watch the recent five planets before the void) or as collectives (for instance amateur astronomers from Memories of a star) or as societies (watch Looking for paradise about the Mojeños Indians with their utopian research in the Bolivian forest).
Because of his early experiences and his partly self-taught training, Thomas is often involved in the composition of the frame and light in the making of his films, sometimes even assuming the role of director of photography. Trained at the steadicam by Noël Véry, he has also worked as a DOP for other directors.
