Tamara Brocic (1995) is a screenwriter and director from Belgrade, Serbia. She is currently developing the script for her first feature film within the Less Is More-Le Groupe Ouest program (France) and simultaneously working on a feature documentary about her father and potatoes. She is also in development phase of a short fiction film, Ocean, supported for production by municipality of Novi Sad and selected for ShorTS Development Lab 2026.
Her latest short film, Bloom (now in post-production) has received several development awards - Best Pitch at European Short Pitch (France 2023) granted by Région Bretagne, Lights On Award at ShorTS Development & Pitching Training (Italy 2022), Balkan Short Film Market (Albania 2022), Bašta Fest (Serbia 2021), Vox Feminae Film Festival and Tabor Film Festival (Croatia, 2021). It was also a Serbian representative at Euro Connection at Clermont-Ferrand (France) in 2023.
Her previous short films have been screened at numerous film festivals in Serbia and abroad and have won several awards. She has participated in international artist residency MultiMadeira (Portugal), Terre di Cinema CineCampus (Italy), Filmer Forge (Bulgaria), FILM + Development Lab (Romania), Galichnik Script Lab (Macedonia), documentary film workshops at Maginificent 7 Documentary film festival, DOK Serbia, Media Education Center and Kvadrat Centre for Visual Communication (Serbia). She was a Serbian representative at European University Film Award (EUFA) at Filmfest Hamburg 2021. She has also exhibited photography and made photo zines.
In her films, she is interested in subjects of coming of age, relation between space and people, possibility of freedom, questions of belonging and utopia. She likes working slow, often in small crews, and directing non-actors. She has directed music videos for bands like KPAX, Crno dete and Mapo Keys.
She teaches film at Atelje Kinema workshop in Belgrade, which she founded in 2021 in her neighbourhood, Novi Beograd. She also works as a freelance director, editor and AD on film, moderates film talks at Cultural center of Pančevo and is a co-host of a radio show Sceniranje on alternative art scene in Serbia. She studied Film and TV Directing at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, University of Arts in Belgrade, and Architecture at the University of Belgrade.
