Stephen Chen is a Midwest-born Taiwanese American who left his career as a classically trained civil engineer to pursue screenwriting after learning that his pipe dream was just a regular dream. He's dabbled in standup, improv, and sketch comedy, but primarily writes character-driven comedy pilots and horror features that explore themes of identity and self-acceptance.
Tired of waiting for others to deem his scripts good enough to produce, he started producing and directing his own short films, including "Security" and "Secret Admirer," both of which were Quarterfinalists in the Killer Shorts Horror Short Screenplay Competition. "Security" premiered at New York CineFest in 2024, and "Secret Admirer" is currently in post-production.
