Stephen Campbell is a television producer with thirty years experience in the industry. He has worked as a writer, director and producer on a wide variety of genres, including award winning comedy and drama.
As co-creator and associate producer of the award winning ICE TV (Best Comedy Programme, NZ Film and Television Awards 1999), Stephen was responsible for writing and directing many of the showʼs most popular segments including the comedy strands, ʻPolice Programmeʼ and ʻHospital Programmeʼ.
In 2002 he created Greenstone TVʼs first childrenʼs drama series, Secret Agent Men (TV3). Secret Agent Men was re-
commissioned for a second season and won best childrenʼs programme at the 2004 Qantas Media Awards.
Stephenʼs next drama, The Amazing Extraordinary Friends (TV2), went into production in 2006. He oversaw the production of three seasons of AEF as well as the production of AEF 360, the programmeʼs digital extension, which included two web-exclusive short-form drama series, The WIRED Chronicles and Origins.
The Amazing Extraordinary Friends was a finalist in the 2008 Roma Fiction Festival (Italy), the Seoul Drama Festival 2008 (Korea), the 2008 Qantas Film and Television Awards (New Zealand), and Best Childrenʼs/Youth Programme at the Aotearoa Film and Television Awards 2011.
The Amazing Extraordinary Friends (season 3) won a special prize at the Seoul International Drama Festival 2011
Both Secret Agent Men and The Amazing Extraordinary Friends have sold to regions around the world, including Asia, Europe and the US.
Stephen’s latest drama, the sci fi thriller The Cul de Sac, debuted on TV2 in 2016. A second season of The Cul de Sac screened in 2017. A third season is currently in pre-production..
