Open to student and amateur filmmakers in the state of Alabama, the Steel Reel Film Festival is a competition created by the BEA Student Media Club at UAB. We accept a wide variety of short videos from documentary and narrative to animation.
Best In Show will receive a cash prize, and Audience Choice award will receive a gift. All other categories will be judged and awarded a certificate for the top selections.

Rules & Terms

1. Open to films made in Alabama only, as a student or amateur
2. Short videos only, specific to the category
3. Only accepting films that were completed within the past two years

    Thanks you for selecting our short-film, Crown the County of Lowndes, to be apart of the 2019 Steel Reel Film Festival! It was our first film festival and we enjoyed every bit of it! We learned alot, enjoyed watching the films from other filmmakers, and the ability to connect with and congratulate other filmmakers.

    We looks forward to submitting more films to the Steel Reel Film Festival in the years ahead.
