I've finally discovered my life's purpose.
Writer, director and filmmaker from Limerick, Ireland.
My passion for film was ignited in 2017 and I haven't been able to let go, nor have I wanted to. Everything I know and do is self taught. I didn't go to film school, I learn as I go, driven purely by my love of cinema and passion to express and create.
In 2017 my first short screenplay was shortlist by Screen Ireland for funding. I went on to self fund it in the end and won several first time director awards such as 'Best First Time Director' at Indie Short Fest and The Independent Short Awards in L.A. As well as 'Best Midwest Short Film' at The Richard Harris International Film Festival. I was also nominated for the Rising Star award at the Underground Cinema film festival in Dublin.
In 2021-22 My second and third shorts 'Deterioration of Man, and 'Interviewing Lance Masterson' were very well received globally and earned me the 'Best Director' award at Indie short fest , The New Jersey Film Awards and The Monthly Film Festival.
I was attached to direct a short film in the 2023 'Engine Shorts' funding scheme, I was also shortlisted by Virgin Media with my short film script 'Hung.Up' as part of the 2023 fearless filmmakers comp.
My style of writing ranges from hard hitting dramas to true crime and supernatural thrillers. I don't shy away from unsettling stories, for this reason my writing usually has somewhat grim undertones; Writing is a creative tool for me to purge and release circulating emotions in a positive and constructive way. It's very therapeutic.
As a director I would describe myself as a fearless risk taker. I'm always looking for new, interesting ways to do things. I plan my shoots up to a point then I like to ease the gas and see what the day brings. In my experience over planning sucks all the creative juice out of the experience leaving no room for freedom and new ideas.
I choose the people I work with very carefully; people I respect, people that can deliver and people I trust. I have no tolerance for ego on set. Filmmaking must be done for the love of art, not money, fame or pride. We're a team and should want the same thing...the best possible result.
Big time bold visuals addict, anything out there and wild will always grab my attention and get me all lathered up. I adore the work of Edgar Wright, Quentin Tarantino, David Lynch and Christopher Nolan.
I am currently writing the TV series Institute: Red Heron. I am also in pre production for my first feature film 'The Fetishist'. I am also in talks with a writer for Netflix regarding directing a feature in America.
