The Regional Competition for the Skills Canada BC trade and technology competitions provide parents, teachers, students, labour and government with opportunities to explore skilled trades and technology careers. There are thirteen regions within British Columbia, each hosting their own virtual competition where videos are created within a five hour period that must be planned, filmed and edited based on a specific phrase or theme.
The purpose of this challenge is to evaluate the student's proficiency in the television/video production field.

The gold medal winners from each region will travel to Abbotsford, British Columbia to participate in the provincial competition that will take place on April 15th, 2019.
The gold winners from this competition will participate in the National competition which takes place in Halifax, Nova Scotia on May 28th and 29th where gold medal winners from all over Canada compete to win the national gold.

Each team on the day of the competition will plan, shoot and edit a 60 second to 90 second video that uses the theme presented at the orientation meeting on the day of the competition.
This video will be produced in a 5-hour continuous time block which need not be part of the school day. If this project is not completed during school hours, the sponsor teacher must sign off on the start and completion times to ensure the 5 hour time period.
Completed videos will be uploaded to Vimeo, YouTube and linked to FilmFreeway or directly uploaded to the FilmFreeway site by 5:00 pm Monday, March 2nd, for judging purposes.
