The Sicilia Queer filmfest – International New Visions Festival is a project whose aim is to promote the cinematographic culture and the fight against social discrimination, and to protect and sustain the culture of diversity through the promotion of non-compliant movies, exploring horizons in search of a new perspective towards the cinema of the future. The festival intends to promote young actors, emerging and independent cinematography, new forms of expression connected to the experimentation and innovation of traditional and non-traditional languages.

The festival presents one competitive section:

• International New Visions: open to short, medium-length and feature-length films. This competitive section is dedicated to first and second works, new directors but also films that generally stand out for their innovative language and original perspective, questioning queer and queerness in a broad sense or not necessarily related to LGBTIA+ themes. All genres are eligible (fiction, documentary, animation, music videos, experimental films), with the exception of commercials and television theme songs.
The International Jury awards the International New Visions Award, worth of €2.500,00 (two thousand five hundred euros). The Circuito Cinema Jury awards the Circuito Cinema Award, worth of €500,00 (five hundred euros); this jury encourages the organizers to find a new opportunity to present the winning title.
