Shahr International Film Festival is regarded as one of Iran's most prestigious international film festivals. The festival is organized by Shahr Image Institute, the Artistic and Cultural Organization of Tehran Municipality.

The 8th Shahr International Film Festival tries to identify remarkable aspects of "urban life patterns" through innovative cinematic works. The festival aims to create a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences among cities worldwide.

The festival's international section will be held in two sections: "International Competition" and "Specials".

Awards & Prizes

- Festival trophy, honorary diploma, and cash prize to the producer of the best film "focusing on cities and urban management".
- Honorary diploma, and cash prize for the best director of fiction film.
- Honorary diploma, and cash prize for the best director of documentary film.
- Honorary diploma, and cash prize for the best director of short documentary.
- Honorary diploma, and cash prize for the best director of short fiction film.
- Honorary diploma, and cash prize for the best director of short animation.

Rules & Terms

• The films must have been completed after July 2019.
• Films submitted in previous editions of the festival are not allowed to submit.
• Submission is free of charge.
• Entrants can submit as many films as they wish.
• Feature films (fiction) must be at least 70 minutes running time, intended for theatrical release.
• Feature films (documentary) must be at least 60 minutes of running time.
• Short films (fiction, documentary, animation) must be at most 40 minutes running time.
• The producer or international distributor of the film must complete the submission form.
• The submitter must send the high-quality full version of the films to the festival office via a download link.
• All non-English films must include English subtitles.
• Each entry must submit the following for publication on the festival website and the festival booklet: synopsis, film poster, official pictures of the film, behind-the-scenes photos, trailer, director's biography, and director's photo.
• According to the festival regulations, filmmakers or responsible parties of selected films would be invited to attend the festival.
• All submitters are welcome to attend the festival and participate in the workshops and seminars free of charge.
• The festival office is allowed to exploit up to 5 minutes of submitted films on its websites or national tv channels for festival promotion.
• All submitted films will be kept in the festival archive for educational and research purposes.
• The festival will select no more than one-third of international section films from Iranian films.
• Once a film is submitted, there would be no withdrawal.
• The festival office is not responsible for any damage caused to the DCP/films due to mailing/shipping services.
• Further information on the professional panels, workshops, international members of the jury, and special guests will be announced on the festival website.
• In case of questions, disputes, misunderstandings, or any unforeseen issues, the decisions of the festival director would prevail.

    It was one of the best festival till now I submitted, my short film "Flying in Darkness" has received the honarable mention at the 8th Shahr International Film festival amongst 90 countries and 1050+ submissions, it was a proud moment for me to represent my country amongst those 90 countries, special thanks to the judges for giving this award.
