Now in its 5th annual year, Screen Stockport Film Festival has firmly established itself as one of the leading independent film festivals in the North West, screening over 200 short films and supporting over 2000 students to date at The Plaza Super Cinema in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
The festival was set up by Joe Barratt, now 22, who wanted to create a film festival in his hometown which was accessible to independent filmmakers and connected young filmmakers up to leading professionals in the industry.
Screen Stockport is undoubtedly the perfect film festival for any aspiring independent filmmaker who wants to see their short film projected onto the big screen in front of a packed out audience.
Special guests attending the film festival have included filmmaker Carol Morley (Dreams of a Life, The Falling), director Mat Whitecross (Spike Island, The Road to Guantanamo), CEO of Warp Films, Mark Herbert (Tyrannosaur, Submarine, Made of Stone) CEO of IMDb, Col Needham and Head of CBBC Production, Helen Bullough.
