Sabrina Mertens was born in Hamburg (Germany) in 1985. She studied audiovisual media design in Berlin.
Since 2015, Sabrina Mertens has been enrolled in the directing programme at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg. Parallel to her activities as a director, Mertens writes screenplays and develops concepts for innovative film forms. TIME OF MOULTING, released at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2020, is her feature film debut. Her second feature film PHILIPPIKA - STRANGERS NEED LOVE TOO is in post production and will be released in 2026.
