Best Short Film: Recognizes the best film under 40 minutes.
Best Documentary: Award for the best non-fiction film, regardless of length.

Best AI-Created Film: Honors the most creative use of AI in film.
Best Fashion Film: For the best film highlighting fashion and style.
Best Arthouse Film: Award for the most artistically unique film with unconventional storytelling and visual style.

GENERAL AGREEMENT OF PARTICIPATION

By submitting my film to the Russian Film Festival South Africa International, I confirm that I have read and accept the terms and regulations of the festival. I will provide any additional information required in accordance with these rules and regulations. I authorize the Russian Film Festival South Africa International to exhibit my film, and if selected, I confirm that an exhibition copy will be available in the required format for screening during the 2025 festival.
I certify that I hold all necessary rights for the submission of this film/video to the Russian Film Festival South Africa International, and that all rights and clearances have been obtained. This film is not subject to any litigation, nor is it threatened by any litigation. I hold the Russian Film Festival South Africa International harmless from any damage to, or loss of, materials en route to, from, or while at the festival. I assume all legal responsibilities related to this submission.
By agreeing to these terms, I grant the Russian Film Festival South Africa International the right to use excerpts from the submitted film, including stills and trailers, for publicity and marketing purposes for the 2025 festival and for other non-commercial uses related to the promotion of the festival. I also agree to indemnify the Russian Film Festival South Africa International in the event that these rights have not been properly secured.

RULES & TERMS FOR SUBMITTING FILMS

The Russian Film Festival South Africa International, is seeking independent feature-length and short films from around the world, in any genre. Our Standard Festival Participation Agreement (Terms and Conditions), which all submitted films are required to follow, is outlined below:

Submission Eligibility:
All submissions must have been completed before 1 January 2025.
Films must be submitted via online screener.
All films not in the English language must include subtitles.
You must confirm that you hold the necessary rights and permissions for all content used in the film, including music, images, and footage.
Ensure that your film adheres to the specified length requirements for feature films, short films, or documentaries.
All films submitted to the Russian Film Festival South Africa International, must include an appropriate age rating.

Premiere Status
The Russian Film Festival South Africa International, requires that all films have not been screened to a public audience in South Africa prior to the festival dates.

Submission Fee
All submissions to the Russian Film Festival South Africa International, through FilmFreeway, must be paid by credit card or PayPal. The submission fee is non-refundable.

Shipping
If a film is selected for the Festival, all shipping and postage costs for DCPs and additional materials sent to and returned from the Russian Film Festival South Africa International, must be covered by the submitting party. The festival will not accept Cash on Delivery (COD) shipments, nor will it cover any fees incurred in South African customs. All charges must be pre-paid.

Selection of Films
Submissions will be reviewed and selected based on the following criteria:
Quality of the narrative and production values
Independent nature of the production.

Notifications
The Russian Film Festival South Africa International, aims to complete all selection procedures by January 3, 2025. After this date, all submitting parties will be informed in writing whether their film has been selected or not. Successful submissions will receive a Filmmaker Festival Pack, which will include important information on shipping the DCP to the Festival, press and publicity details, guest accreditation, contact information, and guidance on how to maximize their participation in the Festival.

Festival Screenings
Selected films MUST provide a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) for screening at the Russian Film Festival South Africa International. The film title MUST be clearly labelled on the hard drive.

Scheduling
Screenings are scheduled at the discretion of the Russian Film Festival South Africa International, While every effort will be made to adhere to the published schedule, the Festival reserves the right to make changes at any time for any reason. The Russian Film Festival South Africa International, will not be liable for any costs incurred due to changes in scheduling.
Once a film is selected, it cannot be withdrawn from the festival program.
