From an early career as a communications engineer, Paul was seduced by the lights and sounds of the audiovisual media, and from 1979 has produced hundreds of documentaries, educational films, training videos and marketing promotions for community organisations, government departments, corporates and individuals. Throughout the 1980s this was from his Wellington company Capital Communications Ltd (Capcom), an early starter in what is now the world-famous Miramar creative precinct.
From the mid-nineties Paul has worked from his base in rural Marlborough, developing many local clients but also completing projects in other parts of New Zealand and several out of Brisbane, Australia. On many of these projects he works with collaborator Barbara Gibb, of Wellington-based Aspire Design, and their creative partnership has delivered many successful projects.
In 2007 Paul completed a post-graduate Master of Arts degree in Media Production, obtaining first-class honours from the Film School at Griffith University, Brisbane. He later graduated as a Doctor of Visual Arts (DVA) from Queensland College of Art, with a study of the special temporal relationships in documentary film editing.
