Patrick Hopkins studied Film & English at the University of Cape Town in South Africa & worked on various commercials in SA before moving to London.

He worked as PA to director Susanna White on Nanny McPhee 2 & Parade's End & he then went on to assist Oscar- winning director James Marsh on The Theory of Everything.

Patrick assisted James Marsh again on his next two features, The Mercy & King of Thieves, on which Patrick directed the 2nd unit.

James Marsh was the Executive Producer of Touchpaper, Patrick's first short film.

Patrick followed this up with 2 more shorts: Tony Bear (a romantic comedy horror) & Wildbird (a character-driven dramatic monologue).
