Oxford Shorts is an international film festival which celebrates the diversity and creativity of short films. We accept both fictional and factual entries with great stories that stir the emotions, strong characters and unique voices or evocative worlds. All genres are welcomed!

We have screened over 600 films live and online and given over 100 awards since the festival began in March 2019. Entries have included BAFTA/BIFA winning films and films from former Academy Award winners/nominees. Aside from screenings we've also held over 100 Q&As and industry related workshops.

The 2026 festival will once again run within the historic grounds of St John's College (University of Oxford) in April. We encourage former alumni or local filmmakers to get in contact before submitting an entry.

  • A really lovely festival - definitely one of the best I have attended. Such a friendly vibe and met lots of interesting people. The standard of the films overall was high; the communication was fantastic and it was very well organised. A nice networking event and classy printed programme and merchandise. It was a privilege to have my short film SEED shown here, in the city where it was filmed! Thank you Oxford Shorts team for all your hard work.
