CAHNRS for All Presents: THE ORIGINAL STORYTELLERS Native Film Festival 2023. The festival will take place in association with the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences at WSU. The films will be screened on Zoom and in person.

This film festival is a family friendly festival that creates and explores Native American culture and the challenges that face indigenous populations. We are looking for films that speak truth to power, ruminate on indigenous ways of life, entertain, and inspire.

In the spirit of the festival we encourage Native American film creators who participate in any production aspect of creating films to apply: screenwriters, actors, cinematographers, directors, composers, etc. The call is open to all themes revolving around Native Americans but we encourage films that touch on climate justice and the impact on tribal nations, gathering and food systems, Indigenous ecological knowledge; and land grant history regarding tribes.

All films are eligible, regardless if they have distribution or not. All films are eligible even if they have been accepted to other film festivals. All films and videos are eligible, regardless of when or where they were produced. Even if your film, video or music video is publicly available on YouTube or Vimeo, it is still eligible for submission.

We strongly encourage filmmakers to submit their film only after it is fully finished as we will judge each submission as a completed work, whether it is or not.

Once a film is entered, due to limited screening time, we will not be able to update the submission with a more recent cut. Should the film be accepted to play during the Festival, the filmmaker will have the opportunity to supply the Festival with their most recent version.

Applicants are solely responsible for obtaining all necessary rights and permissions for third-party materials included in their films, including but not limited to music, trademarks, logos, copyrights, and other intellectual property rights. OSFF expressly disclaims all liability or responsibility for any violations of the foregoing.

All submissions are welcome, but those chosen to play during the Festival will need to conform to some limited content restrictions: no gratuitous sex, nudity, or violence.
