Celebrating Queer Representation in Film

London is gearing up to host an extraordinary event that will captivate audiences with its curated selection of queer short films. "One Fluid Night" is an immersive cinematic experience that celebrates the diverse and fluid nature of gender and sexuality. This groundbreaking event aims to provide a platform for underrepresented voices in the film industry while celebrating the queer experience.

The carefully chosen films showcased during "One Fluid Night" cover a wide range of themes, exploring topics such as coming out, self-discovery, love, relationships, and the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. Each film has been selected for its artistic merit, storytelling, and ability to shed light on various aspects of the queer experience.

An exciting aspect of the event is the active participation of the audience. After the screenings, attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite film. The film with the most votes will receive a special prize, acknowledging the hard work and creativity of the filmmaker.

Held at a vibrant and energetic cinema in London, "One Fluid Night" provides an intimate and inclusive space for the audience to immerse themselves in these powerful stories. The event welcomes people of all gender identities and sexual orientations, creating a safe environment for self-expression and the celebration of the diverse queer community.

The event will be hosted by a charismatic Debbie Del Rey, ensuring a seamless flow throughout the night. Live performers, industry professionals, and the talented Misscondukt will provide entertainment and musical interludes, enhancing the overall experience.

The screening and Awarding Ceremony will be held at Genes Cinema (London, UK) on 20 October 2023.

Any other announcements will be made on OFN’s official website and OFN’s social media platforms.

Awards & Prizes

The Winners of the Night will receive Awards and Cash prizes. 

Awards will be provided in three categories:


* Best Fluid Story (Award + Prize £200)
* Best Performance (Prize £150)
* Best Director (Prize £150)

All prizes will be disbursed 10 working days after the winners are announced.

DETAILS:
1. Officially Selected Projects will be presented on the Notification Date.

2. All selected projects will be eligible for entry into all categories.
2. Winner of each category will receive an OFN digital certificate with verification and a digital copy of the official OFN laurel.

3. Winner of the Best Fluid Story is chosen from all selected.

4. Winners will be chosen by the Audience and Jury Panel through voting at the end of the One Fluid Night Event.
5. In case of the recipients’ absence during the award ceremony, OFN will send the certificate to them via post.

6. The winners of OFN monthly Award may get the chance to be chosen and screened at the annual OFN Award.


Rules & Terms

RULES AND TERMS

All submissions must be LGBTQIA+ oriented!!!

1. Submissions for the 1st edition of One Fluid Night are open on 26th August 2023
2. All films must be presented in their original language with English subtitles.
3. Films must have been completed after 1 January 2021. Premiere status is not required.
4. All entries must not exceed a running time of 20 minutes.
5. Full pornography-orientated projects will not be accepted.
6. Works-in-progress will not be accepted.
7. Projects that are publicly listed and visible to everyone will not be accepted, unless they are temporarily hidden from public view throughout the entire duration of the current edition of OFN.
8. Applicant admits that he/she is authorised to submit the film, being the rights-holder or authorised representative of the film.
9. All persons submitting Material (“Entrants”) must be 18 years or older.
10. The submitter owns all the copyrights including music rights.
11. Must not include racist, misogynist, homophobic, anti-trans or strong violence.
12. Submission is open to all filmmakers with works that are LGBTQIA+ themed in the following formats: Short/Documentary/Pilot of Web Series/Animation
13. You may send more than one film but a separate application must be made for each film.
14. All entries must be submitted online via FilmFreeway.
15. All submissions are screened and evaluated by the OFN Selection Committee.
16. Criteria for judging are based on the creativity of visual images, production quality (irrespective of the cost of production), originality of storytelling and entertainment value.
17. All Official Selections for each category will be announced on the OFN website and social media platforms and will be notified through email.

18. The number of selections for each category is at the OFN Committee’s discretion.


TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE EXHIBITION
1. All films must be of standard cinema aspect ratio and resolution (Square Pixels 1.0).
Flat:1.85:1 2K (1998x1080) or 4K (3996x2160) Scope: 2.39:1 2K (2048×858) or 4K (4096x1716)

2. HD format is possible, but the filmmakers/producer must give OFN the right to re-format it for screening purposes. HD quality digital copy of the film in Quicktime (Pro Res 422) if applicable.

3. H264 (MP4) files can be accepted provided the images are of great quality.

    One Fluid Night was such a special festival. I wasn't able to attend the festival in person so I sent a representative, and everyone at OFN made sure that he felt welcomed and taken care of. They allowed him to read a statement on my behalf. He couldn't stop raving about how wonderful the evening turned out. The folks at OFN are incredible with their communication and they make sure that your film plays as you intended, and they go the extra mile in making sure that every film is marketed within the festival and online. I would highly recommend everyone submitting to One Fluid Night, as I will certainly do it again in the future.
