The 11th edition of OMID international student short film and photography festival will be held on May, 16-18, 2022 in Tehran, Iran. This Festival will be open to student across the world to submit their short films and photographs.
Omid festival is one of the biggest art events in Iran and is funded by Iran’s ministry of science, research, and technology. The festival aims to discover talented artists and showcase their work on a global scale.

Omid festival is open to Short films and Photos in two sections:

Main Competition:
Any and all works of film and photography will be accepted.

Special Sections:
Participants should choose subjects from the list below:
Social harm and addiction prevention
Tourism and sustainability
Tehran; Capital of Iran

Rules and Regulations for Films:
1- Film Directors must be students or recent graduates (2 years maximum).
2- Short Films are accepted in three categories: Fiction/ Animated/ Experimental
3- Films must have a running time of 30 minutes or less (including the credits)
4- Films must have been completed after January 1st, 2020.
5- The Selected films cannot be withdrawn.
6- Any incomplete submissions or uploads will not be accepted. All submitted work must be in its final form.
7- The applicant holds the sole responsibility of copyright clearance of any copyrighted material in the film. Films including unauthorized copyrighted material are ineligible
8- The films submitted from outside of Iran will compete in the best international film award.
9- There is no limitation on the number of films submitted by each director.

Technical regulations for films:
For a better review process, the following technical aspects are recommended:
Size / aspect ratio: 1920 x 1080 px / 16:9 HD
Video Codec: H.264 high profile
Audio Codec: AAC/ 320 Kbit/s

*All non-Persian films must include English subtitles.*

Rules and Terms for Photos:
1- Photographers must be students or recent graduates (2 years maximum).
2- Photos are accepted in two forms: Single photo / Film set photo

3- Each participant is allowed to submit up to 10 single photos and/or 6 film set photos
4- Photos can be B&W or in color.
5- Putting any watermarks, signatures, and other information on the photos will result in disqualification.
6- The applicant holds the sole responsibility of copyright clearance of the submitted photos.
7- Photos files must be smaller than 7 Mb (with a minimum of 1600 pixels on the shorter side)
8- Photos must be uploaded to sharing platforms like Google Drive or DropBox in a zip file and participants should submit the link in submission form through the festival’s website.
9- The award for film photography will be judged from the stills provided in the submission profile. The award will go to the set photographer and is contingent on their approval.

General regulations:
1- Participants must be students or recent graduates (2 years maximum).
3- There are no submission fees.
4- Festival can use photos and up to 3 minutes of selected films for teasers showing in the media.
5- Participants must upload these photos in the submission form: Artist’s photo (film and photo section) / backstage and stage photos and film poster (film section)
6- There will be no screening fees for the selected works
7- Submitting artworks to the festival means accepting all the rules.
8- The list of the selected films and photos will be published on the Festival’s website (http://www.festivalomid.ir) in May 2021.
9- The festival committee will decide on any case which has not been stipulated in this regulations document.
